Cooks Who Care - 12/1407

I love this time of the year; my husband hates it (he thinks it's too commercialized).  I find myself humming Christmas songs, baking way too many cookies and watching every holiday movie I can find on television.  The other night my husband fell over laughing because I was dancing around the room to the music of one of the movies...he thinks I'm a goof...but really, I just get so excited about all the ways there are to show you care during the holidays!

My neighbors and I are doing our cookie-baking day tomorrow -- I plan to take some of them to the local community center where they'll distribute them to the elderly in the area.  My aunt and her family is making food and serving it at the homeless shelter on Christmas day.  Additionally, I just like to make cookie packages for friends and family to brighten their day!  I'm trying to expand and think of other ways that I could give back to the community.  One idea I'm running past the females in my family is to make fleece blankets Christmas Eve.  We usually go to church in the afternoon, eat dinner, open gifts and watch movies or play games.  I'd like to devote part of that time to making blankets to take to the shelter.  We could drop them off the next morning!

What do you do over the holidays to show you care?
