Taste of Home Cooking School Part 1

Hello!  I’m Kristi Larson, Culinary Specialist on the West Coast for the Taste of Home Cooking School. I get to travel throughout WA, OR, ID, CA, NV and UT for the Cooking School, and I love it!  I’m looking forward to blogging about my adventures on the road this fall, as I’m sure there will be plenty of things to talk about.

Just a little bit about me. I grew up in Othello, Washington, a small farming community in eastern Washington.  Although my parents didn’t farm, my grandparents did, and I definitely consider myself a “country girl.” I am the oldest of six children! I have four brothers and a sister, so there was always lots of cooking to be done at our house. From an early age, I loved to help my mom and grandma in the kitchen, making cookies was always my favorite activity J  In fact, making cookies is still one of my favorite things to do. I got used to doubling or tripling cookie recipes while growing up, since they always disappeared so fast.  Unfortunately, it’s a tough habit to break now that I’m on my own!

Alright, let’s get down to business. The Cooking School’s fall season gets underway on Saturday, August 29 in Pasadena, CA. It’s going to be a fantastic show, and I hope to see you there!  If you can’t make it, check out the locations of the rest of our shows by clicking on the “Find a Show” tab in the menu above. You can search for a show near you! We have some great recipes and tips to share with everyone this fall, and I guarantee you’ll have a lot of fun!  Are you ready to get cooking?  I know I’m ready! Let’s get to it!

I noticed you left out MT in your list of NW states.  I have attended schools in Kallispell, MT for the last 3-4 years.  Will that be discontinued or is someone else covering that area?

I love the cooking schools and took a van full last year.

I don't see any cooking schools close to Fernley Nevada.

The school is usually in Carson City.  Are you going there this year?

Sincerely,

Joyce Kling

I am so excited to follow your  blog and meet you at the Ogden, UT show this year.  My mother-in-law & I have made attending the cooking school a tradition for the past 10 years or so.  We were sad to hear of the discontinuation of the Logan show but we "will travel for food!" Thanks!

Are you coming to Washington this year?  I didn't find any listings for either Washington or Oregon.  Please say you'll be in my area this year.

I'm glad to see that so many people are looking for a show to attend!  The schedule that is on this site is complete; we don't have any shows scheduled in Washington or Nevada this fall, but have one in Oregon.  I'll be back in WA and NV next year.  The easiest way to find shows near you is to click on "Cooking Schools" in the menu bar above, then "Find a Show".

Kristi, you would think you could have one here in Moses Lake, since it is sooooooo close to your home town. LOL.  I will be looking forward to next year to see you and meet you.  I love my magazine, read it from front to cover, every issue.  Thanks for all the great recipes and shortcuts.

There are 5 shows that are listed in Missouri/Kansas that would be close enough for me to drive to.  Are they all the same, or is each one different?  I wouldn't want to attend them all if they are the same thing.  My daughters & I all attended one a few months ago & we loved it.  Thanks!

The Cooking School has two different shows - the Fall Comfort Classics show is held all over, and the Festive in a Flash show is held in select locations in the midwest and mid-Atlantic regions of the country.  So, chances are that you might be close enough to attend one of each!  To find out which type of show will be held in the locations you are interested in, contact information is provided in the "show details" section for each show.

Ticket prices are determined by the sponsoring media - check the show details for the show you are interested in attending.  If there isn't any information listed yet, keep checking back - it will be soon :)

I live just behind the Expo Building, I am really excited that Taste of Home is back.  Would the information be in the newspaper?  Last time it was run by the newspaper and it was really not very organized, I hope that more people are aware of this great event.

gypsyredheart- I'm  not sure which show you're referring to, but click on the "show details" and it will show you who is running the show this year.
