Blessings

I am so blessed! Everywhere I look, everything I hear, everything I touch, taste or smell just reminds me of all the blessings God has brought into my life! I have friends - some that I've never met (SS is such a blessing), and some that I haven't seen for ages - but I treasure their presence in my life.

Guess it's been a couple months again. I have let "things" get ahead of me, it's time to step back and re-evaluate.

So, I need to look at what is important, who is important, and where I concentrate my time and energies.

I am looking forward to Sunday School starting back up in the fall, even though Sunday was the last for this year. I have some interesting plans and ideas. I'll work on them so I am ready for September. Need to spend a little personal devotional time.

I am enjoying my family so much - God has blessed me with the best. I want to continue to build those relationships.

I am finding that I am choosing to be around those who are quiet and have gentle spirits. Opinionated people, people who know everything and feel compelled to tell you so, users and manipulators, those who will tell you it's all about them - I have little patience for. How rude is it to be talking with someone and have another person interrupt - when they weren't even in the conversation in the first place? Or to be conducting a meeting or teaching a class - or sitting in a class - and have someone keep up a running commentary? Manners! I was always taught to sit quietly and listen, offer comments or answer question if asked. Otherwise, for heaven's sake, shut up and listen. Sorry - just venting here...

Anyway, back to the important stuff...I received a list of questions that John Wesley and his "Holy Club" used to ask themselves daily. Think I will start doing the same thing.

I haven't taken the time to blog since January - just been really busy. Life is so exciting - so full of blessings and challenges.

What an exciting week! Piper was gone for a couple days - so scary for us, and I'm sure for her. It made me realize what a true blessing she is to us. Not a day has gone by since we got her that we don't thank God for her. She is pure joy - and loves with total abandon. Such an incredible blessing to have her home, thank you God!

I think we're passing around a bug at home - both kids have had the sore throat/cough/fever thing. We all had flu shots, and this is only lasting a couple days.

This week, more than others, I have been shown yet again what a wonderful God we have and his ability to meet our needs and care for us. I have realized how important friends are, and how I need to be a better friend to the special people in my life. I am thankful for the unlimited GRACE God bestows, and the grace and patience of my friends.

I know for sure that a portion of today will be spent in prayer and thanksgiving time!

Busy-ness

Wow, where did the holidays go? Things kind of fell apart before the holidays, and the fall-out is all over! I am really disappointed in myself, though. I let things come before the important parts of my life. Thankfully, I have a very understanding family. As each day passes, I realize more and more how blessed I am. Each day just brings more blessings my way.

Yesterday I learned who my Secret sister has been for the last 6 months. I had no idea - so was delighted to finally learn her identity. The thing is, the day was kind of a bummer - really frumpy about some stuff. Her gifts to me had me in tears - and totally changed my attitude. I so hope that we can stay in touch - she is a very special person! She reminded me of the reason for the season - and what I don't need to focus on. We had our workplace Christmas gathering yesterday afternoon - my secret Santa from work has the same name as my Secret Sister - how cool is that? I received the Josh Groban CD from her - so will be sipping hot cocoa from my Secret Sister, reading the cookbook she sent me, and listening to Josh. Yesterday evening, we had our Civil Air Patrol holiday (politically correct) celebration.

I am so blessed by an incredible number of special people in my life. I realize this, and appreciate it all year long, but it just feels more special this time of the year. Well, back to work - just wanted to stop in and share thoughts.

I guess this is just one of those blah days. Worked, and sat inside and looked at the gorgeous sunshine outside. It's cold, and my ankle and knee are really sore. I wonder if we are due for a storm, or at least change in barometric pressure? I need to cook something - that will help On Sunday, I made 12 loaves of bread - 6 white, and 6 tomato cheese bread. It was for church, and all but 8 slices were eaten. I took some homemade jam and apple butter to go with. Well, time to go find something to do to make this evening feel better!

I was kind of wondering what the change would be like, I am sure most of us were. This is nice, and will be fun once it gets to be comfortable. Today was a family day - and a great day.
