Good Monday Morning, Gang, and welcome to this week's conversations.  And, Greetings from Tampa were we are under about 10 different type of severe weather watches, all from Tropical Storm Debby, which is now sitting pretty stationery out there in the Gulf of Mexico, and whose path is now straight north to the Florida Panhandle.  We woke up this morning around 3am to high winds, heavy rain, and lightning.

It is has subsided a bit now, but a few blocks away from here at my daughters house, they have lost power, and the streets are reportedly flooded in many areas.  And, Aune has to go to work this morning....  Baxter is still huddling in bed - he is usually up and rarin' to get outside the minute I raise my head off the pillow, but I have been out of bed now for almost an hour and he is till huddled under a pillow.

More later after things settle down a bit....  have a wonderful Monday morning.

Beema--I'm so glad you were able to check in this morning. I was concerned about you after last night's post. I hope that Aune's round-about route to work this morning is still open for her. Remind me not to complain about at gray, cool day in the 60's around here. Our weather people are keeping an eye on it because sometime down the road the system might wander on up here and dump on us. The dad-burned girl doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get anywhere and when she does move, it's anybody's guess. Keeping my fingers crossed that you keep your power and your drains keep draining!

Sammy's sitting in the window next to me swishing his tail like made. He's a long-hair and every once in a while it passes over my face, darn it. I'm going to have a hairball if this keeps up. Wink One of the baby birds just flew toward the window and tried to land on the screen--Sammy almost had it in his lap and needless to say was pretty excited. Never a dull moment!

I bought a pork tenderloin on sale yesterday and I'll pan roast it for supper. That'll give me some nice leftovers for a couple of days. It's too bad I'm just coming off a turkey glut--they had turkey drumsticks on sale for $1.50 lb. but I don't have freezer room for them so had to pass them by. I'll have a nice oven dinner tonight in the counter-top oven since it isn't supposed to get warmer than 65 today with rain. A good day for it.

Time to have breakfast. Talk to you later.

Just popping in for a second.  Had an email from Geema saying she cannot get the "reply" page...  she can read the posts, but that's as far as she can get.  She didn't want anyone to worry about her.  This darn storm is standing still and creating more havoc than a fast moving hurricane...  I have water in the master bedroom and bath ....  running out of towels to mop it up with, so I am running a load of sopping ones thru the spin cycle in the washer, then a quick run thru the dryer just to the point where they can sop up more water....  I hate this.  But, it could be worse, so I am thanking my Lord and counting my blessings....

geema--maybe this isn't the same problem that you're having, but one time I couldn't reply and it was because I wasn't signed in.  I don't know how I even got signed out, but once I signed in again I could reply.

Oh, duh!!   Thanks carole. Apparently that was the problem as I deleted history last night.  Thanks a bunch!!

Thanks Beema for letting everyone know I was having problems posting.

Now that I am on I haven't much to say.

Please send us some rain Beema "but" not a storm.  Wink  We are so dry here that I forget when I mowed last. Just a few weeds (what we call "rat tails") here and there in the yard but grass doesn't look like has grown any since I last mowed and has brown spots. We aren't supposed to get rain anytime soon. I water the little garden every other day (in the late evening).

Well I guess I had better get busy.

I couldn't reply either until I realized I wasn't logged in. Must be catching. The power went out here Saturday  too while I was on the computer so I guess that's why everything got messed up. We had a storm for only about 1/2 hour on Saturday but for some reason our power was out from around 5pm until around 3 am. I was just heading out to a friends for dinner when the power went out so I grabbed all my candlebras and candles. Figured we'd be playing cards by candle light but her power came back on just after dinner. Mine didn't come on until the wee hours of the morning.

On Friday when we went for lunch and played cards we were all talking about our pasts. One of my friends had her tv on the music channel that also has beautiful pictures changing all the time. One of the pictures was of a white owl,  so i was telling them about the bad experience I had trying to rescure this baby white owl as I child. How my Mother and sister let it starve to death because  they wouldn't tell me what to feed it.

We had also been discussing music boxes. I had said I often bought music boxes as gifts but could never afford to buy  one for myself  as they are quite expensive.  On Saturday when I went again for cards one of my friends had been shopping that afternoon and guess what she found.  A music box with a white owl on it. She bought it for me.

What a lovely and thoughtful gift. She turned a very bad memory into a precious one. Isn't that a treasure?

I took the dogs for a walk along the dike. The river is flooded right up to the dike. We usually walk on the trail between the river and dike as there is quite a large area of woods there but, now all the woods area is flooded. Don't think I've ever seen it all flooded before.  The corn fields on the other side of the dike are all flooded as well.  Other than that we don't have problems here as my little town is built mostly on hills.

Most of our problems nowadays is that people build where they shouldn't. Too close to rivers and then wonder why they run into difficulties.

    Tasty - congratulations.

That silly Debby is now heading east....  first it was going to go west, then north, now east - egads.  So, yes, now Tampa is under Tropical Storm warnings along with all the other warnings.  This is not much fun.  Even Baxter is uneasy.... he is pacing from room to room, trying to find some solace.  I hold him for a few minutes then he gets antsy and wants down...  then he starts pacing again.  And, it's not because he has to go out, we've done that 10 times already today.  His being uneasy has given me more pause than the weather reports have.

    More later....

Left HugOh, Beema.Right Hug Debby doesn't seem to want to leave, does she? Animals are sensitive and Baxter may be picking up signals from your uneasiness. I guess there's nothing much you can do but hunker down and make sure you're prepared.

Did Aune have a good birthday despite the weather? Bet this is a birthday that will stand out in her memory.

I've had a few odd things happen with the site this afternoon--and I am signed in. Highlighting things is unpredictable--it skips around as I'm doing it. And when I posted on one of the recipes I got a message that I couldn't post a duplicate message--but I hadn't clicked on post yet! When I went to check, sure enough--there it was posted! And everytime I use an insert box (smilies, Word, etc.) the next time I call it up it's about the size of a postage stamp and I have to drag a corner large enough to read what's on it. Do we have gremlins?

Geema--I know you enjoy single serving mug recipes. I accidentally ran across a few that sound good and are different. When I get time I'll post them. Their just the size for me--I can't afford to have leftovers when I'm in the mood for a treat. Wink

    Have a good day, everyone.

Ironically, the sun is shining.  But, the winds are something else again, and the radar shows rain that could come our way.  My rain gauge showed 8 1/2 inces !  And, the drains are working like mad, but there is still standing water.  I had water on the back porch, saturating the carpets I have around the seating areas.  Water in my bedroom (three dozen towels to sop it all up), and water in the bathroom as well.  One of my specimen trees is almost out of the ground, but if my yard guy can get by soon, we might be able to save it.

    More later....

Just stopping in real quick to say "Hi".

Beema, I sure hope your weather improves I just haven't been around to see the news on TV or even the radio for days.  If nothing else, maybe it can stop raining for you and stop the flooding in the house.

We golfed this morning - it was quite chilly and then this afternoon, one other couple and hubby & I, went in to the curling club to decide what to do with the leftovers from Saturday's sale.  A lot, we are just throwing away - it probably should never have come to us in the first place.  The local Mobile toy library co-ordinator came by this afternoon and took lots of the toys.  That way, they will be used.  Better than us storing them for another year.  And we have lots that will go to the 2 charity shops in town.  We have kept what we considered the better stuff for next year.  Yes, we decided to do it all againSurprise

By the time we got home, it was after 6 so supper was tomato soup and grilled cheese.  Oh, and we finished the bottle of wine we opened last night Drinks Big Smile

    Have a good evening,

    Tasty

Good Evening - that's been quite a day(s) of weather Beema. It has been hot and dry here and just going to get hotter as the week continues. Sweetpea goes to the basement when it storms. If we are the only ones home and it is night she gets under the covers and pants and shakes all night - we get no sleep on those nights. I have wrapped her snuggly to no avail. Baxter - Sweetpea totally gets you Man!

Carole - I too sometimes get signed out for no apparent reason - drives me nuts! At least my stuff is easy to remember.

Sue - I love your new pic. I know it is not so new anymore! It is awesome to put a name and face together!!

Is it the tides or stars that cause these weird events on TOH and other things we do every so often on computers? Sometimes I will just have a day of trouble - sensitive key board for no reason, or very slow, etc. And then without doing anything it changes back to normal and I just think it's the moon! I was telling the IT person at work today that sometimes I don't even have to touch my mouse pad and it 'enters' (which can be very irritating). She said it was energy that we give off. Makes sense.

Sid likes living here. I think. He gets up at 6am (which means we get up) and has coffee and a donut. Then he goes back to bed. A couple hours later he gets up (always has to have help and can't be left alone at all). Around 10:30 or 11 he likes 1/2 a sandwich. Sometime during the day he wants a beer (he used to never drink those). If you ask him want he wants for dinner he says Arby's even if he had it for lunch. If he is in a bad mood for no good reason he says nothing. So I no longer ask - I just cook and serve - and he eats it ALL!!!! I mean the amount he eats when I do that shocks me!!! Today our neighbor brought over cookies. He enjoyed her coming over and chating - smiled! He ate two chocolate chip cookies. For dinner he ate a whole chicken thigh (BBQ), mashed potatoes and green beans w/ onion.

He goes to bed around 7p-7:30 but wakes up several times in the evening to urinate. At about 11 pm we give him a sleeping pill and hope he only gets up once during the night - as that means we are up too! He is quiet as a mouse - so really have to listen or he will get up on his own.

During the day he wants to sit outside ALL THE TIME. Someone has to stay with him even when he is just sitting. Jon's brother is going to bring TV tables over so he can eat outside (he likes) and we can use our computers out there. He doesn't talk alot - drowses here and there. So frankly - you can do computer type things when sitting with him. He sits in the backyard for awhile and then wants to go to the front yard - back and forth a few times a day.

Can't really trust him as he has lost some ability to reason or make reasonable choices. Has been hallucinating (auditory) - keeps hearing a choir - which I think is spooky. A choir? He's Jewish - I have never seen a Jewish choir! And he has lost some of his ability to have tack - in a bad way. Still has modesty. And truly is not confused to the point of lacking a lot of cognitive thought.

So, that is were we are right now. Beema hope that weather is better tomorrow!

I'll check in in the am.

Another wet and windy day ahead of us, it seems.  Good Morning, by the way - I slept a bit better, the wind was howling and making a racket, but like the clock ticking, I must be getting used to it.

The forecasters are staying that Debby will hang around on the western coast of Florida for another day or two, and then cross the state, emerge in the Atlantic and then possibly strength.  It has been caught between two other pressure systems, causing it not to become too strong, but producing a lot of rain, and once it gets out from those two pressure systems, in the open waters, it may go to hurricane strength.  The earliest named storm in history, it may also end up being one of the longest....

My yard is riddled everywhere with twigs, and small limbs from the trees, lots of piles of debris that washed over the area and is not left behind as the water has drained away.  I am not going to put anything back in place just yet...  if we get even another inch of rain, it is liable to end up inside - the ground is just too saturated to absorb any more.

But, again, I am so thankful that it isn't any worse.

I haven't read any of the posts, but will do later this morning...  for now, have a great day, everyone.
