Good Morning All:
I can see the sun behind the trees and temp is 53.9°.
Not sure what I am going to do today. Need to check the garden after the dew evaporates. Kinda nice to have some dew. I sure hope that means we will be back to "normal" weather. Might even have to mow part of my yard. Can't remember when I mowed last. Sure is a strange summer.
Gdau Denise called yesterday and said the expected baby is a boy. He will be joining Adelyn and probably will make their family complete. They started their family a little bit later.
Beema: Have a good party!!! I am sure you will.
CUL
Good Morning! Glad you like my hair! I colored it last night - maybe a little too dark! Same color as usual - but maybe the summer sun and swimming had lightened it - so now it seems dark. Enjoying a cup of joe . It is 64 degrees here - has really cooled off in the last week and feels good. We've had a little bit of rain over the past couple of days and the humidity has decreased with the cooler weather.
Tasty, 23 pounds more of tomatoes! I think pizza sauce sounds great. Even plain tomato sauce, or crushed tomatoes, would be nice to have. Stewed tomatoes are a favorite of mine too! We go through a lot of canned tomato products in this house!! Sam's Club (warehouse store) used to sell the 128 ounce cans of tomatoes, crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce for about $3.00. I would then make spaghetti sauce or pizza sauce and freeze. I haven't done that in a while.
Carole - I vote for Zeke also!
Jon is over at my school assisting in testing students for registry. I can go visit - but am not allowed to be involved. I might run over at lunch and see how they are doing. Now that they have graduated I can be friends with them - and after being with them for a year they do seem like friends - particularly the older ones. I also run with two of them - they are on neighboring departments. I hope to be able to follow them and see how they do.
Mac - hope you are OK. Thinking about you and DH.
Hope everyone is having great weekend!
Lilly
My Girl
GM everyone,
just a quick post before I go hang the second load of laundry on the line and head out to do some shopping.
I need to go and get my hair cut too, Lilly. I'm getting to feel like the shaggy dog.
I was looking at some ideas ofor pizza sauce last night and that is one thing I haven't done before so maybe I'll try that this w/e. I think a lot will end up in yet more soup and then maybe just plain canned because then I can do whatever I want with them.
Have fun with the family this pm Beema.Geema, you seem like your feeling much more like yourself from your posts.
Mac & Birdy, I hope you're enjoying the same weather we are, it's just lovely, mid 60's blue skies and sunshine. Gotta love it.
tasty
Wicker - where are you? And Jenny? Trailmom - should be back from vacation soon. And Lilymax? Kittyrose?
Hope you are all ok. Wicker - missing your wicked sense of humor (a pun - so bad). Hope to see you all back here soon.
The acorns are tiny this year and starting to hit my roof. And the squirrels are running across it as well - very loud!
Beema - hope you have a wonderful party.
Good morning, ladies. It was so nice and cool that I headed out after coffee to de-shag the yard of most of what had been taking advantage of my absence during the hot, hot weather. Why do weeds always grow faster than what we really want??!! Lilly--It's going to be in the low 70's today with tomorrow just a little bit warmer--my kind of weather! Yay! I hope the others are. Geema--are you getting a break in the temps, too? What a difference it makes in my mood when it's comfortable again.
Must be a good year for tomatoes all over. We're seeing a bumper crop in the region, too. What to they call it--an embarrassment of riches? And much better quality than some other years. Did you know that they say that canned tomatoes are actually more nutritious since the process releases the lycopene in them? Hmm--the fountain of youth? If spaghetti sauce keeps me feeling younger, bring it on!!
Have a great party, Beema. Lilly--I like the new do! Isn't it amazing what a lift it gives a girl getting her hair done?!
I just took a shoulder lamb chop out of the freezer that I've been meaning to use. It's so nice today that I'm to grill it outdoors. If I don't use this grill, it'll be snowing before I know it. Ooohh! Bite my tongue on that one. Although the dreaded S word isn't really all that scary in comparison to the summer we've had.
Have a great Saturday, everyone. Talk to you later.
Good Afteroon All:
I am feeling much better - thank you all!
Going to Emma's 6th birthday party. She was 6 a couple days ago. I have started a Cookbook for her in a White Notebook Binder with recipes in "Sheet Protectors". It can be added to. With Mom's help she will be able to do recipes from her own book. She was soooo excited at Christmas that I gave her a little cookbook sooooooo I thought I would start her one to be "added to".
"If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went." -Will Rogers
What?!?! Two dogs - you're getting two? double trouble? I can't wait to see these two!
GOOD SUNDAY MORNING, EVERYONE ~ I just read all the posts from yesterday, and the cooler weather you all seem to be having is an inspiration for me. Sooner or later, we will begin to cool down, too. But, not yet. High today will once again be low 90's, with a 50% chance of rain.
The party was a huge success. The food seemed to disappear more quickly than it did at previous parties, so I guess the make your own tacos theme is a big hit. I have done this before, but I think I had too many other things to offer - that always seems to be my problem: too many different items.
Jenny stayed and helped me put away the perishables, so cleaning up this morning will be a breeze. After Aune goes off the work, I will have nothing to do but wash the serving pieces, and put the tables back where they belong.
Yesterday, my across the street neighbors were out early, setting up for a yard sale. They have no garage, and no covered porch, and the prediction for heavy rain before 2 pm came to bear... they were deluged, drowned out, dumped on. They had some upholstered pieces out there on their front lawn, which they madly tried to cover with a large plastic sheet, but you know the wind just whipped that around and soon it was in the middle of the road. I felt badly for them. Even tho they are not the best of neighbors and not on my list of favorite people, no one deserves to have happen. The remnants are still sitting out there this morning.
Carole, how lucky for Zeke to have his brother come home with him !! If you have never had two dogs, you are in for a treat. They will both vie to be your favorite, but when you are otherwise occupied, they will have each other to sleep and play with. How sweet.
Well, I will return later, and chat some more, after I get the house back to normal. In the meantime, have some coffee, kick back and read the paper.... and enjoy this wonderful Sunday.

Good morning everyone, nice cool morning here in Ontario. The grandkids slept over last night as Scott and Kelly had a party. Carole, 2 dogs, WOW! Both my sons have 2 dogs each, great company for each other.
Good Morning all.
Temp is 57.5° Kinda unreal for "August". Are we having an early fall/winter?
I do not see the sun behind the trees so wonder what today will bring. I had thought about mowing around the house before I tried to do the whole yard. My neighbor mowed yesterday and I will say it looks "funny". Shows the bad spots worse. I am going to set my mower on 4 (which cuts it a tad bit higher).
I think Emma liked her cookbook but she had so many gifts that it was hard to catch her reaction to most of what she got. The party included the in-laws, out-laws and friends. Pizza, chips & dip, drinks and cake was on the menu. Jenny made a cake shaped like a butterfly "2 wings and body" (cute) and cup cakes.
Carole: Sounds like you all are suckers and I mean that in a nice way!! It will be interesting to follow your posts about the "pups".
Carole--TWO!! Now you don't have to choose between the names!! Have a wonderful time with them.
Geema--I'm glad you're getting some of the cool. It's overdue. It was 45 when I got up this morning. It feels really cold after what we've been getting. It even got down into the 30's in the mountains last night. Just a slap on the side of the head from Mother Nature reminding us that summer doesn't last forever.
Yesterday's humidity was so low that you could see for miles. I went to get spring water and came home the long way over a road that follows a ridge between two valleys that head into the big valley. It's just about the highest point in the county and you can see very far on a clear day. On one side of the road I could see the steam rising from the Nine-Mile Point power plant near Oswego on Lake Ontario. That's about 70 miles from me as the crow flies. I bet if it hadn't been for some of the hills in the way I might have seen right across the lake to Tasty's home--it was in the same direction. On the other side of the road, you could see the beginning of the Adirondacks. There aren't too many times during the summer that you can get a view like that--usually there's too much humidity in the air.
Time to get going and enjoy the day--warmer but still very pleasant. Talk to you later.
Good Sunday morning.
Wow, Carole, way to go. you may have your hands full for a little while but that sounds wonderful - 2 of them to keep each other, and you, company.
Glad the party went well Beema but it doesn't surprise me. You are so well organised, how could the rest of the family not enjoy themselves. Glad you got some help to clear up.
Mac, I think we have the same kind of weather today. It was in the 50's when I got up this morning and is now a beautiful summer's day, in the 70's and no humidity. I really want to spend some time out doors today.
Geema, looks like you too are having some cooler weather. Hope the sun shines for you. Glad DGGD liked her special recipe book.
Birdy, that sounds like a lovely drive yesterday. I love being out like that, on quietish roads when you can see for miles. If I had been looking in the right direction, I'd have waved
Our neighbours up the road had a huge party last night, with people staying in trailers and tents, cars filling their driveway etc and we were concerned that it was going to be a huge big drunk - they are a LOT younger than us but we barely heard a sound after we went to bed and even earlier on the only reason we heard anything at all was that we had the patio door open, as we always do when the weather is nice. Phew, a big relief.
Hubby is back for the final round of the club championship today and then this evening we are off to some friends for a BBQ so no cooking here today, other than tomatoes
Have a lovely day,
Tasty
Good Afternoon:
Temp is hovering around 73° today. Nice change.
My intentions were good BUT I decided that I didn't want to mow on Sunday.
Sooooooooooooo I have been playing on the "net".
I ran across a recipe for Chouquettes and since it was in grams, etc. I tried to figure the recipe out - in the meantime I found some with "cups, teaspoons, etc."!! And it suddenly dawned on me that is how I make "Cream Puffs"!! duh I don't plan on making them today BUT soon. "Chouquettes" are not filled and are made smaller than "Cream Puffs" and are dipped, rolled or sprinkled with coarse sugar before baking.
Think I will go work in my Suduko book. I am in a very lazy mood!!!!
Good Afternoon... thunder is rumbling out there, but I doubt that it will amount to much. Right now it just shows up a a tiny blip on the radar screen.
Geema, Sundays are designed to be lazy days!! You are one up on me... I love all word puzzles and games, but the Suduko game throws me for a loop... I have only tried maybe three times and could not even get interested enough to want to finish. You must have a mind for numbers... I don't. Variety is the spice of life, and you add a little of that spice to my life every day.
Clean up today was a breeze, and then I did some laundry, went to the library, cleaned the fish bowl, vacuumed a bit of the main house, took a 15 minute nap, and helped my neighbor put away some of the stuff that got wet during yesterday's downpour - the stuff she had out for a yard sale... we took it to the local thrift store. Nothing damaged, but they are moving, and she needed to get rid of the stuff whether it sold or not.
We will have a few party leftovers for dinner tonight... there is just enough chicken fajitas for the both of us.
Seems like everyone had a nice day today.... and I will see you in the morning, in a new thread.
