I just got the Comfort Food Diet Cookbook. I found the Code it said to use, but cannot find where to use it. Help!

Does it allow me access to other areas? Not sure what I even need it for.

Hey Dirtdobber207- Thanks for the note. My name is Joe and I work with the Taste of Home digital team. The free access code is no longer needed to access http://www.comfortfooddietcookbook.com. We removed password access last summer.  On the min-site, you will have access recipes, tips and great healthy-related articles. We have also just recently launched an online diet plan located at http://comfortfooddiet.tasteofhome.com. The cost is very reasonable (under $2 a week) and let's you enjoy all the wonderful CFD recipes.

I hope this helps! Good luck-

    Joe

This makes me angry. I, too, purchased the book based on the free access only to find it's a pay-per-use site. I'm a long-time fan of the magazine, but this stinks of "bait and switch" and puts Taste of Home in a very poor light for me. Joe's response is very different from the reply I received from customer service:

    Dear Debbi,

    Thank you for contacting us.

Our apologies for any inconvenience and for the error. The www.comfortfooddietcookbook.com site will actually redirect you to the new Comfort Food Diet site. At this point, we have not received any updates as to when the new site will have a place for customers to enter the “access code”. We are still working on getting this added to the Comfort Food Diet web page. We apologize for the delay.

If you have any questions or if there is anything else we may help you with, please don't hesitate to contact us again.

    Sincerely,
    Robin Parker

    LadyWrites,

I'm sorry for the confusion and the frustration it's caused and I'd like to explain:

The website comfortfooddietcookbook.com was developed as a companion to the Comfort Food Diet cookbooks. It's been 'live' since 2009. When the cookbook series started, you needed to use an access code to enter. Since then, we've removed the access code gate for various reasons. The site, however, still offers the same tools, articles and success stories that it did before the access code gate was removed.

In December 2011, a new paid Comfort Food Diet website was launched. It's basically an online version of the diet cookbooks. It is different from the website listed in the cookbooks.

At one point, we were redirecting folks from www.comfortfooddietcookbook.com to the new paid site - like the customer care representative explained. Since then, we realized that, like you alluded, it wasn't fair to offer a companion site in the cookbook and then not have it available. It is now back online and does not redirect to the paid website.

I apologize for the two different answers that you came across and for taking down the companion site for a time. We do not want to mislead our customers or misrepresent our products. If you have any questions please let me know.

    Sincerely,

    Peggy Woodward

I, too, am disappointed regarding the website. I bought the Comfort Food Diet Cookbook new about a month ago. It has a sticker on the front cover that says BONUS: Exclusive Access to Online Weight Loss Tools, and then there is more about it on the inside with the access code. It is true, there is access to limited tools on the Cookbook website; however, no indication is given that to get all the tools you have to pay.  The tools that are accessible are certainly no bonus; BMI calculators and activity calorie counters are available in many places, the food calorie count chart is extremely limited, and the meal planning worksheet is in the book. Most of the other material is available to anyone at either the Taste of Home website or other websites. There is nothing exclusive about this. Perhaps you cannot change what is inside the book, but at least these stickers shouldn't be on the cover anymore.  I agree with the person who felt like this was a bait and switch...perhaps not intended, but that ends up being the result.

    Hi Armywife,

Thanks for sharing about this.  I completely understand your frustrations and I've shared them with the CFD team. You are absolutely right, this was not intended to be a bait and switch.  I'm so sorry that you feel like you've been misled.

Thanks again for your comments.  Please feel free to reach out to me if you need anything in the future.
