There are several ways, but I've thought the garlic was rather tasteless after being baked or roasted, so I'm not going to recommend one way or the other BUT, there is a great website for garlic (garlic.com) from Gilroy, Calif., the garlic capital.....where you can get a lot of information.....have fun!

Just slice across the pointy part-exposing a little raw garlic, then drizzle about 1 tsp of oil on top. Then wrap in foil and put in the oven for about 20 minutes or until soft. I ususally do this when I'm cooking something else--this keeps in the fridge for at least a week or maybe more.

I use a garlic roaster, I put a small amount of olive oil in the bottom, cut about 1/3 inch off the top of the garlic bulb and put a small pat of butter on top. I then sprinkle basil, rosemary, oregano & parsley on the top. Put it into a cold oven and turn it to 350. About every 15 minutes I baste it with the oil and butter at the bottom of the roaster. It takes an hour to cook. I serve it with thinly sliced French Bread. It's wonderful!
