I want to make a Pumpkin Roll, but have no white towel to roll the cake in. Can I use Parchment Paper or Cheese cloth to roll the cake in? Or if someone has another idea, I would appreciate hearing it. Thank you so much.
What you really need is a fairly thin towel of any color - not the really plush towels. Something with enough bulk so that the roll isn't too tight and something that will let a little steam escape. Last time I used a clean bath towel.
I would not recommend using something other than a thin linen kitchen towel. You will need something that will wrap around the cake and isn't flimsy but it shouldn't look like a bathroom towel either. Using parchment paper would probably result in the cake unraveling because it is very thin and just no used to that type of job, same with cheesecloth.
