I have quite a few recipes that call for very small amounts of lime juice. Is there anything I can use to substitue for lime juice? I never seem to have any in my cabinets.
Lemon juice adds tartness but it is not the same underlying flavor as lime juice. If the amount of liquid isn't necessary, only a spoonful or so, I use a drop or two of lime oil. I got mine from King Arthur. I also use their orange and lemon oil in place of zest, because I don't like the feel of biting down on zest. cj
P.S. There are also brands of bottled lime juice to keep on hand. Nellie and Joe's is a brand I have seen recommended. We have limes growing here so I freeze the juice to use later.
Thanks so much for all of your help! I don't use this nearly as much as lemon juice, but I just didn't think tehy would make an even switch!
