When making frosting, I make a little extra to freeze in a sandwich bag for later use. When I want glaze for coffee cake, I thaw the frosting in the bag. I cut off a small corner of the bag (with frosting still in it), then pipe the glaze on top. Toss the bag.
Just joining the website so I am late to reply! I love this idea and never thought to use the oven. What about the grease?

When I buy bulk fruit or veggies. I will puree some and freeze to use for smoothies. Just thaw in fridge the night before and its ready to go in the morning!
when i go grocery shopping, i buy sale item like roasts, chickens, or buy one get one free..
then when i get home, i cook the roast in the slow cooker, and shred it, freeze it and kids love it that way they can use what they need. chicken i will roast, and cut up and freeze for another day, but i also have cooked chicken pieces that i can use quickly for chicken salads, enchillads, or chicken soup, which i also cook in big amounts and freeze. some days going to the freezer for the meals are so easy....and now my neighbors do the same..

It's a good idea with meat, to put plastic wrap around it, then put it in freezer bags. The meat stays better, longer, and there's no sticking together!

Cooking for just two, I have found that when I shop, I buy enough to have a good portion for leftovers, and by doing that I am actually only "cooking" once, and then reusing or reheating the second time around. For example, when I buy ground beef, and plan to have burgers, I will use the leftover burgers, mixed with some rice and tomatoes to make a filling for stuffed green peppers.
