Every time, no matter how careful I try not to, I always get oil on the outside of the bottle of canola oil... I have tried wrapping the bottle in a paper towel first, but I still end up with an oily bottle. What ideas do you have?

I have a glass bottle that has a rubber stopper device with a pour top - kind of like a top for a bottle of liquor. It helps keep drips from happening so I do not have a problem every time I pour.
The only other thing I can think of is to turn the bottle as you lift at the end - like how you keep catsup from going down the sides.

Have you tried using a funnel? I know there are small ones, like the kind used for flask..
Sheri, I began to ponder your suggestion, and I realized that it is the oil bottle itself that drips back on to itself, so I continued to ponder and decided that maybe a nozzle would be the answer. I found a product called E-Z Funnel, and it it actually a funnel on one end and a nozzel on the other. Shaped like a domed onion, one end is large and the other is small and pointy. And, I tried it yesterday. It seems to work. Yippee. Thanks, everyone, for giving me food for thought.
I use a 17 oz glass bottle that Olive Oil came in and re-fill with peanut oil for hot frying.
The bottle has a black plastic rim with little thin teeth pointing down into the neck of the bottle. Never get oil running down the outside f the bottle and I can pour a stream as thin as Quilting Thread. I refill with a small funnel and every now and then wash the bottle between refills.
If you transfer your oil into an empty glass (brandy?) bottle, go to a Restaurant Supply store and buy one of those pouring spouts they use in bars to measure one ounce into a shot glass. They work for many liquids you want to measure in small quantities.
Since I generally have a sink full of hot dishwater while I'm cooking, it's really nothing for me to just WIPE OFF the bottle if it drips. I like it simple.
Back in those days folks cooked their food, not built a shrine to it.

That's what I do. Just rotate it a little as you stop pouring and set the bottle upright. Works for me.
After I asked this question, I haven't poured an oil from the bottle, but just as soon as the next time comes along, trust me, I will first try turning it (and I do know what you mean) to see if that works for me. If not then I will try the nozzle thingy, which I have on hand. Don't you wish all life's problems were so trivial???
