Why get rid of them?  They are beneficial bugs that will prey  on insects that do harm to desirable vegetation, If they're in your house, just take a disposable cup and a card orsomething and scoop them up and take them outdoors. Had a bunch of lady bugs in our basement at times and thats what we've done with them.

If you have the infestation in your house like we did a few years ago, this is one of those ideas that sounds good on paper but...   I tried doing the same thing with a coffee can when they first started appearing in the house.  It was a fruitless endeavor.  By the time I got from one corner of the room to the door they were already flying out of the can and right back to the wall.  No sooner did I 'sweep' one bunch of ladybugs, another 50 appeared in their place.  I wanted to be ecologically correct in dealing with these critters but by the second day, out came the cordless vac.  On a sunny day, there were swarms outside hovering by each door and window.  Every time you opened a door, in they came.  They stung and stank.  I adore ladybugs for the part they play in my garden but they wreaked so much havoc inside my home that I had to do what I had to do.  Although we haven't been hit by such a lady beetle plague in maybe three years I am still finding the carcasses in out- of-the-way nooks and crannies.

Now do you want to hear about the devastating tent worm invasion we had last year? Although those things didn't come into the house on their own, they did attach to clothing and walk in with people and animals.  They coated the deck railings and walkways and streets.  They ate the foliage bare.  Sometimes it's like the twilight zone around here.

Glad to hear i am not the only one that does not want the company....And sorry, NO, sorry, don't want to hear about the worms, that would just do me in, lol......I do vaccumm them up, I was going to get a outside bug zapper and put it inside, but thought that would be kind of gross, but I may still do it!.....Planning on selling soon, have to find a place without these little mean things!

I HATE THOSE "GENERIC" LADY BUGS, I vacuum them up also. They are horrid. Don't get me started on how much I hate them. And YES they bite and stink.

Try spraying them with dish detergent/water combo. That always worked for me. Now spiders are another thing....I now have Kendrick come once a month..No more bugs for me!!  Good Luck!

This is a no win situation.  The Asian Beetle was imported to eat Aphids on soybeans.  Most soybean farmers are now spraying for Aphids but the Asian Beetles are becoming more numerous.  In the midwest they are an epidemic.  My family who live on farms are constantly vacuuming them but be sure to empty the vac as they smell.

I LOVE Ladybugs and have not seen any for couple of years.  I HATE these pseudo ladybugs!!!  I have a lamp that uses a halogen bulb, the kind that shines up, and the Kamakazi fools would fry on the bulb and smell like burning insulation.  Kept me really alert for fires for a while until I realized what was happening.  And don't leave a kitchen cabinet door open.  They are dirty little things.  I've had bites on my body and couldn't figure out what happened.  It seems these little creatures will end up on the inside of your clothes and that's when you can get bit.  Mary

     Mary Der,

Sorry you have to put up with those pests. Havenever seen one arioubd this oprt of ND. SOm eplaces here get  swarms of what they call "Box elder Bugs", they are long and dark brown. A tiny bit longer than a house fly but a littlemore skinny. They like to cover doors and windows that get direct hot sunshine. My west windows have shade from trees and I have only seen an occasional one on my screens. I have been told they also bite.

I have no idea why they call them Box Elder bugs because there are no Box  Elders or any other Elders around here

May I suggest that when you vacuum those lady bugs up, suck up some insect powder into your vacuum bag first. That should kill them fast..

Take them outside? what r u trying to do potty train them? They are pests and an annoyance inside! the smell, stain everything yellow and they stink! If i were to waste my time by scooping them up and taking them outside that is ALL i would be doing!

I don't think she's talking about the lady bugs that people buy & hope they stay in their garden.  Believe she's talking about a pest-variety that showed up in the midwest several years ago.  They invade the house, attach themselves to mailboxes, exterior areas like that....smell awful & some people are allergic to them.  They aren't the 'nice' ones that will protect your gardens by eating pests.

Thanks Lynn, no the "nice" ones are not the ones i'm talking about, if they are in your house by swarms they are not the nice ones.....Luckily i have not seen any for the past season, so i'm very hopeful that MAYBE it is over, which i doubt! but i can always hope Wink
