Candykisses favorite Holiday Snacks
CHEESE ROLL
Serves: 4
Comments: You can make this a few days ahead of time and let chill.
Ingredients:
1 lb. mild cheddar cheese, grated
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
2 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon garlic
salt to taste
chili powder
Instructions:
Soften cheese to room temp.
Mix all other ing., except chili powder, to cheese
Mix well
Make rolls out of mixture & roll in chili powder
Wrap in saran wrap & refrigerate

Comments: We usually have Michelle make this for all the get togethers.
Ingredients:
2/3 cup sour cream
3/4 cup miracle whip
1 t. onion flakes
1/2 teaspoon dill weed
Instructions:
Mix & refrigerate. Serve with fresh vegetables

FESTIVE CHEESE LOG
Serves: 2 logs
Effort: easy
Comments: If you like a little hint of hot, you'll love this.
Ingredients:
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. Cream cheese, softened
1 (8 oz.) pkg. mild Cheddar cheese, grated
1 (4-oz.) can diced green chili's, diced very small
onion powder to taste
1 tsp. Lemon juice
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Dash cayenne pepper
Dash salt
Finely chopped pecans
Instructions:
Cream the cream cheese. Add the cheddar cheese and mix until well
blended. Add green chilies, onion powder, lemon juice,
Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper and salt. Mix
until well blended. Shape into 2 small logs. Roll in
finely chopped pecans. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 24 hours in
refrigerator. Serve with your favorite crackers.

HIDDEN VALLEY RANCH CRACKERS
Effort: easy
Comments: These store so well in the freezer. Make extra to have for unexpected company. I tweaked a little for our own personal taste
Ingredients:
16 oz. oyster crackers
1 pkgs. hidden valley ranch buttermilk dressing (dry)
1/2 teaspoon dill weed
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 cup oil
Instructions:
Combine dressing & spices
Pour over crackers, stir to coat
Place in warm oven 15 min
Drain on paper towel

JIM'S BARBQUE SMOKIES:
Serves: several
Effort: easy
Comments: Jim made up this recipe.
INGREDIENTS:
2 pkgs. (1 lb. each) smokies
1 (18 oz.) Head Country Bar BQ sauce (or your favorite brand)
1/3 c. apricot preserves
INSTRUCTIONS:
In slow cooker put in the BarBQ sauce and the apricot preserves. Stir well. Then add the smokies. Stir. Cover and let simmer a few hours.

Comments: Jim made up this recipe
Ingredients:
1/4 c. margarine
1-1/2 t. season salt
5 t. worcheshire sauce
3 c. wheat chex
3 c. corn chex
2 c. sesame stix
2 c. pretzel sticks
1 c. peanuts (optional)
Instructions:
Melt margarine in pan.
Add seasonings
Mix all dry ing.
Then add butter mixture
Mix well
Put in oven 250
1 hr., stirring every 15 min.
Drain on paper towel when done
Cool & store in airtight container

LADONNA'S SNACK PARTY MIX
Serves: 16
Effort: easy
Comments: recipe made up by LaDonna
Ingredients:
2 1/2 sticks margarine
3 t. season salt
3 T. + 2 t. Worchester sauce
8 c. wheat chex
8 c. corn chex
2 c. garlic bagel chips
4 c. sesame sticks
3 c. salted peanuts
4 c. cheddar gold fish
Instructions:
Melt margarine in pan. Add seasonings
Mix all dry ing.
Then add butter mixture
Mix well
Put in oven 1 hrs, stirring every 15 min.
Oven 250
Drain on paper towel when done
Store in airtight container
TO LOWER FAT CONTENT:
Instead of butter, whip up, till frothy 6 egg whites. Mix seasoning with it. Then cover dry ingredients. Then bake 250 1 1/2 hrs, stirring every 15 min. It tastes great.

M&M POPCORN TREAT
Source: Reesechip (TOH)
Effort: easy
Comments: The sweet and salty is so good. Plus the little hint of honey makes this a very tasty snack
INGREDIENTS:
10 C. salted popped popcorn
2 C. plain M&M's
butter flavored non-stick cooking spray
1/2 C. granulated sugar
1/4 C. honey
1/4 C. light corn syrup
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 C. peanut butter
INSTRUCTIONS:
Put popcorn and candies into large bowl that has been sprayed with a butter flavored non-stick cooking spray.
Spray the sides of a medium-size pan with butter flavored non-stick cooking spray . Put sugar, honey and corn syrup in a pan. Set the pan over medium heat. Bring to a full rolling boil. Stir sugar mixture carefully with a large wooden spoon for 3 minutes, then remove pan from heat.
Add peanut butter and vanilla extract to hot syrup, being careful not to let syrup splatter. Stir with a wooden spoon until peanut butter is melted and smooth. Pour peanut butter mixture over popcorn and candies. Mix with 2 large spoons until popcorn is completely coated.
Spoon onto a large pan that has been sprayed with butter flavored non-stick cooking spray and spread.
Let cool. Break into bite-size pieces.

MEXICAN NIBBLES

Effort: easy
Comments: good, tasty and low-fat
Ingredients:
1 egg white
2 1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 tsp. garlic powder or garlic salt
3 c. bite-size crispy wheat or corn chex
non-stick cooking spray
Instructions:
Beat egg white at room temperature in a large bowl until foamy. Combine chili powder, cumin and garlic powder in a small bowl; stir well and fold into egg white. Add cereal; stir gently to coat pieces evenly. Spread cereal mixture on a baking sheet coated with spray. Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes. Let cereal mixture cool on baking sheet; store in an airtight container. Yield: 6 cups

OVEN CARAMELED POPCORN

Comments: The original recipe came from an Aunt, I did some changes for our own personal taste. She put pecans in hers. I usually make up a huge batch to take to the first football game.
Ingredients:
8 qt. popped popcorn
2 sticks butter, melted
2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup white syrup
1-1/2 cup small marshmallow
1 can almonds (whole)
1 jar dry roasted peanuts
2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon soda
Instructions:
Spray pan with non-stick cooking spray
Boil all ing. except soda & vanilla for 8 min., stirring constantly.
Remove from heat & add soda & vanilla, stir briskly
Pour over popcorn & mix
Bake in 200 oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 min
during cooling break in small pieces
I get 2 1/2 to 3 gallons of finished product

Comments: Sam really likes this stuff.
Ingredients:
1 (18 oz.) jar crunchy peanut butter
12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 stick margarine
1 large box Crispex cereal
1 box powder sugar
Instructions:
Microwave peanut butter, chocolate chips, & butter
Mix together til smooth
Pour over large box Crispex.
Put in large paper bag
Pour in 1 box powder sugar, shake until well coated
Add more powder sugar if too sticky
Store in airtight container

SWEET & SALTY PARTY MIX

Comments: This is one of my favorite snacks. The sweet salty mixture is awesome.
Ingredients:
1 pkgs. (10 0z.) mini pretzel
2 cup cheerios
8 cup corn chex
2 cup salted peanuts
1 lb. M&M?s (use holiday M&M?s to make extra special)
1 pkg. (24 oz.) white chocolate almond bark
Instructions:
In large bowl, combine first five ing; set aside
In a micro-safe bowl, melt bark according to package directions
Pour over cereal mixture & mix well
Spread onto waxed paper layed out on counter
Cool; break apart
Store in airtight container
Yield 5 qts.

Ingredients:
1 can rotel tomatoes with diced green chilies
1 lb. Velveeta cheese, cubed
1/2 lb. ground beef (cooked)
1 pkg. tortilla chips
Instructions:
Put Velveeta & rotel tomatoes in microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 2 - 4 min., stirring occasionally, until lump free.
Add meat.
Serve hot.

Serves: 16

Ingredients:
1 pkg (10 oz.) oyster cracker
1 pkg. (15 oz.) (mini size) pretzel
1 pkg. (11.5 oz.) reg. goldfish crackers
1 (16 oz.) can salted peanuts
1-1/2 cup canola oil
1-1/2 teaspoon dill weed
1 t. onion powder
2 pkgs. (1 oz.)(dry) hidden valley ranch dressing
Instructions:
Add first 4 ing. to brown paper bag.
Pour salad oil thats been mixed with spices over contents of bag
Shake well
Pour on several cookie sheets
Bake 350 10 min.
Pour on paper towels to drain
