Is this the one? I tried it and it's great! Posted by GermanLady:

Whipped Cream Icing: 1/2 c. butter, 1/2 c. crisco shortening, 1 c. granulated sugar. Beat this hard for 10 minutes. Then add 1 t. vanilla and 3/4 c. WARM water (not hot). IMPORTANT--add just a little water at a time. Beat that hard until it stands in a peak. This frosting must be kept in the frig.

    Hi again,

I sent my daughter this thread, she decorates cakes for a side-line and uses a my second recipe (above) but makes these changes:
Instead of taking out the 1 cup of powdered sugar, she uses the entire 2 lb and adds 2 extra Tbs of water. And if she wants her frosting thinner, she adds white corn syrup by the Tbs.
Also for a different flavor, she uses 1 cap-full of clear butter flavor AND 2 tsp clear almond flavor.
She says her customers love this flavor. :o)

    I use this buttercream one

    1 stick margerine or butter
    1 C. crisco
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 - 2# bag of powdered sugar
    approx. 1/4 c. milk

Combine and beat smooth the margerine and crisco.
add the vanilla and 1/8 c. milk..mix in. Add 1/2 of the powdered sugar and beat till smooth then add in remaining 1/2. Again beat about 8-10 minutes for super smooth consistency.

You may need to add a bit more milk if the mixture is lumpy and too thick..but add it a TBSP at a time..you don't want too thin an icing.

Ladies, Thank you for the recipes. I, too, have lost that wonderful Crisco/pudding recipe and found something similar here. It jogged my memory and brought back to mind the original recipe I lost. Here is my favorite Crisco/pudding recipe:

Beat together  1/2 cup Crisco shortening, 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup granulated sugar

While that is beating, mix 1 package INSTANT pudding mix (any flavor) with 1 cup milk

Add the pudding mixture and beat all until the granulated sugar is dissolved (might take a couple minutes)

One of my favorite combinations is banana nut cake with pistachio nut frosting. You can really get creative with this simple fail-proof frosting recipe.
