I need some help. After giving birth to our grandson, my daughter developed an allergy to nuts. She dearly loves Black Walnut fudge, but obviously can't have it. I thought about using an artificially flavored flavoring ( like LorAnn Oils makes). Has anyone tried these with someone who has a nut allergy?I want to make her some fudge for Christmas.
Hi, Kim, and welcome to the Community. That's a bummer, and you are such a sweet mom to want to satisfy your daughter's love of the nutty flavoring, but I would advise that you help her to grow to like other flavors and food items that do not contain the nuts to which she is allergic. The body takes a bit of tweaking to rid itself of cravings, but it can be done. I, for one, use to crave salt, but had to go on a low sodium diet... rather than looking for substitutes, I found that over just a few months I grew use to not having salt on everything I ate. Inasmuch as she will always have this allergy it is best for her NOT to continue to want this flavoring... so, don't feed it. Give her something else to love. Blessing to the newborn, and you for wanting to cheer her up.
