  • what is the difference between?
    while at the store, i wanted to get some rye bread for snadwiches. i noticed that the store carried several difference kinds of rye bread. they had dark rye, light rye and sour dough rye. then they had jewish rye bread and russian rye bread. these two looked the same to me. can anyone tell me what is the difference between jewish rye bread and russian rye bread? ibought a loaf ofboth and haven't tried the russian rye yet.

    Looking up the ingredients on Orowheat's webpage, it appear that the main difference is that Russian Rye has a bit of vinegar in it, which would make it slightly more tangy, and also would soften the texture a bit (although they each have an acidic dough conditioner).

    Yes. I've had both, and like them both. I think, at least with the Orowheat brand, that the Russian Rye is slightly softer textured.

    Orowheat introduced a new Rye in our area. It's a mix of whole Wheat and Rye. I loved it. Hope it sells well so they keep it.
