  • Sour smelling bread ?
I have a bread question. Or rather, my DM has one. She has been making homemade bread for years, and this is the first time this has happened to her. Her bread smells sour. When she made it, she put several loaves in the freezer. Now when she gets it out and thaws it, it smells sour. It is wheat/graham flour bread. Could her wheat or graham flour be bad? Anyone have a solution for her? Thanks!

I am almost certain that what happened here is that your DM accidentally got ahold of one of those bread viruses. The latest one going around is called the Tootie Egg Fart Virus and there is no cure for it. She nost throw the offending loaves out immediately! Contact your local University Extension Service for more information about ridding your house of any remnant of this deadly virus. Good luck!

it may have picked up an odor from the freezer. i would throw it out. also the wheat in the bread may have soured.
