Our pastor's wife has cancer - terminal. The dr's haven't given her a timeline that I'm aware of, but her condition is terminal. We are doing a scrapbook for her, and I need an inspirational/encouragement poem to put on my page. Does anyone know of a good one? Everything I come up with isn't right. Thought maybe you all would have something good.
    Thanks!

    What Cancer Cannot Do

    Author: Unknown

    Cancer is so limited...
    It cannot cripple love.
    It cannot shatter hope.
    It cannot corrode faith.
    It cannot eat away peace.
    It cannot destroy confidence.
    It cannot kill friendship.
    It cannot shut out memories.
    It cannot silence courage.
    It cannot reduce eternal life.
    It cannot quench the Spirit.

My sister's friend wrote this poem for her when she was going through cancer. I have it framed on good paper with a matching color.

    Thoughts and Prayers

    By Goldie Fairchild

My thoughts and prayers are with you
    But mainly God is there.
Through all your trials and troubles,
Your pain He’ll help you bear.
He’ll keep his arms around you,
He’ll walk with you each day.
    He’ll guide, protect and comfort,
    He’ll show you every way.

My thoughts and prayers are with you,
Each day for you I pray.
Dear Lord, don’t let her stumble,
    Help her endure the pain,
And when she’s at her lowest, Lord,
    Lift her spirits high.
And wipe away her tears, Lord,
    When she begins to cry.

A friend is such a blessing,
    A special gift from God.
    An angel sent from above,
    Without a magic wand.
My thoughts and prayers are with you,
In spirit, with you I’ll be.
    For God, He has promised,
He’ll take care of you and me.

Kmas, that is beautiful. I hope you don't mind that I copied it to share with a friend. They have a woman in their church that has terminal cancer and she is having such a hard time with it. Maybe your poem will bring her some comfort.

This is actually a song, but the words are very touching.

    Even The Valley

I've faced a mountain, a trial of stone
Down in the valley, I felt so alone
Fearing that satan would tempt and abuse
But God sent sweet comfort with this simple truth

    [chorus]
Even the valley is higher ground
satan can't touch me, where God's love abounds
There's not a place where God's hand can't reach down
Even the valley is higher ground

I've soared with eagles, and I've fallen low
Through peaks and through valleys That's just how life goes
But I found a peace in the midst of dispair
When I discovered that God is everywhere

Even the valley is higher ground
satan can't touch me where God's love abounds
There's not a place where God's hand can't reach down
Even the valley is higher ground

even the valley is higher ground
