Yes, I will be the first to admit - it is pretty convenient shopping from my house ...and in my jammies - but it just isn't the same as shopping in an actual store!! - since one really can't see or feel the actual product that you are looking for in my case - a new comforter for our bed...
and I wished there was a way to eliminate some of the choices - cause in this particular case - "we" can't have too "flowery" or "girly" - zebra pattern is definitely out of the question - or a comforter with a lot of "white" in it - and stripes - well, they aren't my favorite...oh and the "silky" type material is definitely not a do-able thing either... . and I definitely do not want a comforter that is "dry clean only"... and the list continues!!!
I've searched these websites: Bed Bath and Beyond - Amazon - JC Penney - found a few that would work...but I guess I just wanna be able to see and feel - live and in person - what I would like to purchase!!
Does this mean Sitty should do a road trip - to Reno - just to be able to "see" what I am getting - or should I just quit being too cotton pickin picky??
ok, now that my vent is over... I shall carry on with my day!!
Since I don't like comforters I'm no help. I have a bedspread.

Math is fun!
I LOVE online shopping. The day we realized that Amazon sells Kirkland brand products was the day we decided not to renew our CostCo membership. What confuses me, when buying bedding, is the names. Is a full-sized comforter as big as a queen-sized one? Sometimes. Is that bag you put around the comforter a duvet? A duvet cover? A comforter encasement? (Today was the first time I saw it called that!)And why do down comforters range in price from $80 to $500, with no easily detectable difference in quality?I guess a lot confuses me about buying bedding. LOL.
A lot of this is folk memories and cultural hangovers.

I don't care what they are....I hate em! Lil Man has one & that thing is the biggest pain ever!

Personally I think they're redundant. If I'm so picky about keeping the comforter clean, I'll leave the darn thing in the linen closet and not on the bed.
I didn't know they existed until I was an adult.
Me either.

I didn't buy this - MIL bought it for Lil Man and I don't think she realized what it was. It came with a comforter (all white) and the removable cover.
Pita to wash - pita to use! The comforter slides around in the thing. It'd be fine on an unused bed to be pretty but on a little boy who flops around like a fish - not so much!
Since I hate comforters, I'm no help there. All I have on my bed are sheets and a blanket. No comforter, no duvet cover and no down anything. My DD has a down bed thingy that is under her bottom sheet, and you spend one night on it and it has to be fluffed up again to do any good. Not for me! I don't even have a bedspread on my bed. No one sees it but me, and I never ever even pull up the covers to make it look "made". I sure don't care!
But I LOVE online shopping! My health no longer permits me to spend time shopping in stores like I used to. I discovered Amazon some months ago, tried out the free Prime membership for a month and loved it! So I joined Prime, and it is wonderful to shop online. I am now on a first name basis with my UPS man! I have bought many many things from Amazon that I used to buy in the stores. Only one time received a damaged item. Contacted them right away, printed a return label with the postage paid by them, and sent it off. They immediately sent me a new one after I notified them and I received it in two days. The damaged thing was still on it's way back to them!
Prime membership costs $79 per year. It features free two day shipping on so many of their items and I have been very pleased with their service. Yes, it's different to not be able to see the things in person, but if I'm dissatisfied, I can always send it back. I have saved way more than $79 in shipping, and there is no tax! That has saved me a lot, too. And I can shop in my jammies in the middle of the night. Also don't have to spend money on gas going from store to store.
So unless you want to run all over your town and other towns looking for that perfect comforter, you'll have to be less picky, and settle for something you see online. That is just my opinion! LOL
I'm like oldgirl..I LOOOVE online shopping...Amazon is where I do most of my shopping. Almost ALL Bday and Christmas, Anniversary...gifts are bought there.
I live too far from any store to go out and look at a bunch of different items before buying..gas is just too high for me to run all over the place trying to buy different stuff.
Most of Amazons stuff is Free Shipping if you get over 25.00 worth of stuff (unless you buy used or from another seller) so I don't bother with the Prime Membership. Plus, I have ALWAYS received my items within just a few days...never over 4.
I also love on line shopping. It is so nice to order from your computer and not drive from store to store to see if they have what I want. I no longer call to see if they have a product. The people at the other end could care less.

Lady FingersSew velcro strips onto the edges of the comforter (the soft, loop-sides), and their corresponding hook-sides to the inside of the cover.
That thought has crossed my mind!
Of course - a lot of thoughts cross my mind - see Widdle's distraction thread, LOL
I too love shopping online and Amazon Prime! I almost never go into a store anymore, unless it's for groceries.
As for the bedding thing.....I quit comforters awhile ago, and duvet covers are just a butt chapper. I bought a beautiful quilt set online....with a box dust ruffle, accent pillows, and shams. I use a cotton blanket underneath during the cool months, and just the quilt and sheets during the summer. Love it! I can wash it in my front loader, too.
