    Zone 5: Mission #1 Monday

Today, I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that does not belong in your living room. Things that have gotten thrown in a corner, on a chair, or even the floor. The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes!

This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your living room, do what you can do for 15 minutes.

    Zone 5: Mission #2 Tuesday

    Dear Friends:

Back to the Living Room we go! One of my all time favorite missions for the living room is to go sofa and chair diving! This is where we start digging through the furniture and pluck out the Cheerios and old socks! I am always amazed at how much stuff I can pull out of
the couch in just one short month! I think the couch is kind of like the clothes dryer, it seems to keep things! LOL!

Have fun, this should not take longer than 5 minutes! Don't obsess!

    WEDNESDAY
For today you are to take 5 minutes and dust the decorative items in your living room. The picture frames, lamps and knick knacks, this is a detailed dusting. Turn on the music and move quickly, you will be amazed at how fast you can to this!!!

Don't over think the mission, just do the mission! Have fun!

    THURSDAY
Today, let's have a quick vacuuming session. This means to vacuum the
room in the center getting as close to baseboards and furniture as
you can (without actually moving the furniture out of the way). This
is not a detailed vacuum, just a quick one. Don't obsess, this will
take less than 10 minutes. Have fun and don't get sidetracked!

    FRIDAY

It is Hot Spot Fire Drill time for the Living/Family Room, put out the fires that are burning in your hot spots. Get rid of the pile of junk mail, the magazines that seemed to have taken root and the assorted things that have stacked up on the end tables. They are smoldering so get to it!

    Good Morning ladies,

Glad to be going in to work at 8:00!  I love doing my regular morning.  I've already been out for a walk and have done a load of laundry.

I got my dishes yesterday at Kohl's.  One snag, I got home and started taking them out of the boxes and had one set with a broken cup!  Had to run back and exchange it.  I got Peacock, Sunflower, Turquoise, and Lemongrass.  I have a tablecloth with similar colors.  It looked so pretty - of course, I used them right away last night.  We had my stepson over so we had four.

I've never seen "The Vow" Alphy.  Do you recommend it?

I spoke to my brother in AZ last night.  I hadn't heard from him in a week and a half and I was getting concerned.  Turned out he had computer trouble!  He'd been blogging daily about hisowl family.  Anyway, he told me that our almost 101 year old aunt is dying.  So I will have a funeral in my future this week.  She was quite a lady, we all loved her.  My mother always gave her credit for potty training me when she was in the hospital having my little brother.

Gotta do the dishwasher before I leave.  You all have a good day!

yes, cookie, I liked The Vow.

just bumping again...just home from Des Moines and Ames...went to Sam's, Costco, Wal Mart and of course Christopher and Banks.  flylady wouldn't like it, I bought another pair of jeans at Chr. and Banks...don't know that I needed them, but they were marked down from $55 to $9.99...so how could I resist?

I guess we will have leftovers for dinner tonight.

where is Linda.  also wondering about Dori.

    Hi,

Sorry I wasn't here today. Bs the twins, took dgs H w and he entertained himself w #2's game machine. Twins were great. Had fun. Than her sister came over and took the twins off my hands and I went home.

Dh had a dr appt. to get examined for his cateract surgery next Mon. He's in great shape so he passed w flying colors. Since his heart by-pass he's been eating right and excersiseing alot.

My garden is up, this week is going to be a hot one so will have to water a few times in the morning again, just to keep it growing...

alphy, nice price on the jeans. Just wish I could find a price like that...

A nice young girl came around for a political thing and agreed w her for the most part about that the gov't. shouldn't step in about the marriage between gays. I think it should be the religious end that deals w this the way they do. I also think that this is a free country and if I want to marry another woman, the gov't. shouldn't be involved...think they're getting too involved w our lives. Don't know if anyone else thinks this way...enough of the soap box stuff...

Better get to bed and get some sleep Sleep. Take care, Big Smile.

    Good Morning gals,

I have to brag - my DH sent me the most beautiful flowers at work yesterday for our anniversary.  A really neat squarish shaped tall vase, two huge sunflowers (which I love) on each side and then a huge red rose in the center.  Then some little orchids, mums, and carnations around and between.  I took some pictures of it with my phone so I could show him.  He had to work last night so I walked over to the golf course to visit for a bit.

My dear aunt did pass away Sunday night.  The visitation and funeral won't be until this weekend because her son from California will be coming.  Her children are 77 and 78 years old!

Hope everything goes OK with your DH's surgery Linda.  I had the cataract surgeries done and it went fine for me.  Is he having both eyes done eventually?  I had both and the surgeries were about 3 weeks apart.

Need to head off to work, so everyone have a good day!

    GM everyone,

Am up, started laundry, change litter, did dishes so far, next start the HB. 2nd load about ready to thro in.

Dgs is up & giving me a hard time already, lol. No, not really...

Dh is at work today, and he sprayed painted the register in the bathroom a brown. Now it looks better. Have to get a small amt. of paint and do some touch ups in the bathroom. Must of been some bubbles and they popped after the painter left, anyway there r a few white spots on the wall I stare at when sitting on the toilet and it has started to bother me, u know how that goes...we'll see how I do w it.

May go to the farm and mow this weekend. Than we won't have to go again for a month or so. Don't want dh to get any dust, grass or whatever into his eye. He can't just sit and watch me, he has to be doing something, which is a good trait, but don't want him to hurt himself just because we go to the farm...

Think dd found a new bf, he's nice and I like him from when I've talked w him. Just so she likes him. He has a motorcycle also and they ride together. The other day I guess she spilled and hurt her knee again. TG it's only her knee.

Better check on the laundry, have a great day, Big Smile.

    Good Morning gals,

I'm sitting home late this morning because I have a doctor appointment at 9:10.  Won't go into work till afterwards.  My DH just left, he is playing golf in Solon, IA today with my cousin.  We sat together and had some coffee on our front porch.  That was lovely.  Still cool this morning, but it's supposed to get up to 93 degrees today!

I love the new dishes, Alphy.  I've had two patterns of Corelle, one set for twelve, and one for eight.  I used to be concerned with keeping all pieces since they belonged to a "set".  I decided to get rid of the tea cups and saucers, and the sugar bowl and creamer since I never used them.  I kept a setting for eight of the newest pattern of Corelle and stacked the other pattern plates and bowls on the top shelf.  They will come in handy sometimes.  I have an aversion to paper plates, so when we have large parties that are casual, I have plenty of plates.  The dishwasher comes in handy, but I did the same thing when I didn't have one!  Right now I am convincing the family that it is OK to use the Fiestaware.  They are everyday dishes after all.

Hope everything goes OK at the doctor, Alphy.  I'm going to run down and do some bookwork on DH's computer before I have to leave for the doctor.

    Everyone have a good day!

    Hi,

Watered garden and than tried to take the sprinkler off the hose and tried 3 different times and couldn't get it off to water and fertilize the rose hedge. Will see if dh can do it tonite and water them this evening.

Dd's friend's memorial is today and I'd like to go because I like him, but did too much this morning and back is bothering me. Don't think I could stand it for that long...

Hey, it's going to be up in the 90's today also, even this far N. Humidity will be in the 60's-70's...I think of dh being out there in this heat and hope the air on his crane is working good for him. Heat from the engine of the crane is very hot even w the air on it's hot, hot...

Even this weekend will be hot and still am going to mow at the farm. We leave around 5,6 in the morning and it's still cool, but by the time we leave warm, warm and can't wait to get home TG for air in the car....

Well, better go for now, am going to ice and heat the back and rest...Everyone have a great day and keep cool, drink plenty of water. Big Smile

    Hi everyone,

Noticed that the 'n' on my keyboard is coming off. Can't believe it. The old one every letter and # is still on. Gosh I haven't had it for a year...oh well, hope that is the only one it happens to. I'll be in trouble if more come off...

Yesterday  was the memorial service for dd's friend and I didn't go, because of my back. It still bothers me, but told J that I couldn't pu the twins when they come here. She said that's aok. Feel bad about it but can't help- it.

Bought some fertilizer for the rose hedge and dd put it on and I watered the hedge this morning and thought I'd check it after I fertilize it and took it off and found out it had a plastic covering it. I laughed at myself and than I couldn't put it back on the hose. G, now will have to have dh look at it and get it on tonight and water, fertilize the hedge tonite and get it back on the sprinkler to water my garden tom. morning. The hedge is more than 75'  and have to go around shed and other things. So it's a job...

We're still going to the farm this weekend, a nice hr. or 2 trip and nice to get the h out of the city.

Better go for now, got to see what dgs wants for lunch. Take care, Big Smile.

enjoynature posted this a couple days ago, and I told her...in her initial post...she could teach us flyladies a thing or two, she sounded like a flylady...well, this is what she answered me and she told me I could post it for you girls...thought provoking:

I once heard a speaker say your house is a reflection on how you feel about yourself. If you care about yourself you care about how your house looks too. It shows that it is a reflection on how you feel about different things in your life. If you take the time and make your home a wonderful atmosphere for your family and friends to feel happy, loved, and a place they want to even come home to. Because your home is a clean place to sit down or lay down comfortable in. It shows how you also feel about yourself personally. Clutter is reflection of things you still have to let go in your life. Pack rats, show that you feel you can't let things go for some reason. A house that is to spotless, is a shrine and not a home to sit down and feel comfortable in and have a good time in. The scenerio can go on and on for what I once heard the speaker say in reflection to you and your home.

The only time I wished I hadn't got rid of something was when I cleaned out an estate. There was a couple family things I wished I hadn't let go. But there is no going back. As for getting rid of things in my own home and wishing I hadn't....there hasn't been anything I have left go that I wished I had back.

I haven't started another round of clean out yet today. I want to get out and water the gardens. Then start cleaning out some more paperwork and the library. I go through books every year. I get rid of books that just sit on the shelf for long periods of time. If there gathering dust, and not being read or used, then the books can get going to be enjoyed by someone else. They may be better for someone else to read, then gathering dust for years on a shelf and taking up room.

    Hi ladies,

Kinda quiet around here I see.  I've just been busy myself.

Friday evening we had the visitation for my aunt, then went out to eat with my brothers and sister and cousin and spouses.  Then we were supposed to go to DH's grandson's Dekhockey game, but when we got there it was called off because it started to rain.

Yesterday I had the funeral in the morning then lunch with the extended family.  Dh and I went out to eat at an Italian restaurant, ran into some friends in the parking lot so we sat with them.

Today I baked your Oatmeal Raisin cookies, Alphy, the one with the ground up raisins.  It wasn't my best effort, I forgot to use the convection bake cycle on my oven so I had kind of uneven results.  Some of the cookies got way too brown around the edges.  Also, my butter was maybe a little too soft - I should be careful with that.  I wasn't sure if you grease the sheets for this one, Alphy, do you?  But anyway, I think they are delicious.  Geesh - I take a few weeks off of baking cookies and forget how!  Very good flavor!  Thanks for sharing.

The Dekhockey game was rescheduled for today so we went to that.  His team lost by one point.

Looks like my services are required to help my DD make her dinner.  Gotta go!  Talk to you later!

    Hi,

Went to the farm, left here between 6 & 6:30. Drove there and got done by 11:30, packed up and went to Ma's and visited for awhile. Stopped at a creamery on the way home and got a brick of cheese. mmm good!!! Got home around 5 or so. Today is as hot so we just did a little shopping and ate out than came home.

Did the dishes this morning, fed kitties, they were hungry because I forgot them yesterday morning. Oh, well they didn't starve...

Got a notice in the mail that they're going to tar and fix the blvd. that's in front of our circle. Not going to be done til Nov. That's a long time to work on a street that's only a little over a mile...must be taking there time, LOL...

I agree w what u posted, now to get rid of the stuff that I haven't gotten rid of. Still have gotten a bunch of books that I haven't read, yet. Got rid of a couple of shelves and only have 1 left, butt they've been around for a few years and still haven't read them so might as well get rid of them, and w the nook I can read them on there and it doesn't take up much space. Smile

Better lay down before I fall asleep, hope everyone is well...Big Smile.
