You come on down and wash my dishes and I'll come on up and put yours away, deal?

Adria's World
You want to borrow my dishwasher emptier? He does a real good job, but I'll bet the plane ticket will be expensive.
"Why do they make women's shampoo smell like fruit and flowers? If we want to attract men with the smell of our hair, it should smell like bacon." "...good things come to those who wait. True, but unless you're making a souffle or catching the bus, better things come to those who do something."--Amy Alkon
LOL Adria - it's too hot where you are!
Chou I'd consider it if it wouldn't take him so dang long to get here, LOL.

Not to mention it would be the middle of the night and someone in your house might mistake him for a prowler. LOL
I prefer to wash the dishes too rather than put them away....That's why I go to work in the morning and the d/w is empty when I get home.
It's a wonderful 79 today, overcast and breezy.
The chore is washing them. I enjoy having my dishwasher, so it can do all the hard work. Especially when it's baking day. I hate majorily seeing all the dishes. But again it's a blessing to have the dishwasher.
I can think of worse chores then putting the dishes away. Washing them is more the chore. Endless laundry is a chore. A house tracked up majorily from a crowd of people is a chore. But one needs to be thankful for these chores when many people don't even have a home.

Not in my book!

Well I can too but at the moment.....putting the dishes away is the chore I'm dreading.

This One is always grateful, without reminders.
don't you have children and a husband???? that is their JOB...along with the washing of those dishes...
here, if I cook husband cleans up....if he cooks I clean up...just seems fair....and when the girls were at home..they set the table and then cleaned up...again FAIR....TEACH those pesky kids and husbands these lessons early....LOL because that makes for a happy mom...
It's not how you start, it's how you end....so end strong!!
Walk yourself strong!!

Hubby's on nights & the youngest can't reach to put things away. My dish putter away guys have grown up & moved out! Dang it all.

I have NEVER understood what's fair about that. I'm careful when I cook and I don't make a mess. When DH cooks, he uses every pot and bowl in the kitchen, there's food slung all over the place, and there's sure to be grease splattered everywhere, even if he didn't fry anything (which would be a rarity). I am NOT going to clean up after him. It's bad enough having to clean up after he cleans up.
enjoynatureEndless laundry is a chore.
I enjoy doing laundry. It takes very little effort, and if I want to, I can come play on the computer while it's washing and drying and still feel like I'm "working". Even folding/hanging it isn't a chore for me, and as long as I put it away right then, that's not a chore, either. So it's YOUR opinion that it's a chore, just like it's Sues opinion that putting dishes away is a chore. Just because you don't agree, it doesn't mean she's wrong. And I don't have to be thankful for the chores just because I'm thankful to have a home.
I'm with you Sue, I hate putting dishes away! I'd wash dishes all day long if it meant someone else would put them away.
Yeah but when DH does the dishes, I have to put the clean ones away first or I'll never find them again.
It's the same thing with laundry. Even with having to go to the laundromat, I don't mind the wash, dry, fold part of the process. But take them out of the basket and put them away, even though it usually takes less than 5 minutes is the hardest thing for me to do.

I've lived in 3 houses with dishwashers and never once considered it a blessing. If anything it was more trouble and time consuming to fill it and empty it. I'd have much preferred the extra cupboard space.
We all have differing opinions of the various household chores. I personally would rather wash dishes and do laundry, than clean the ceiling fan, vacuum my carpeted ceiling or scrub the shower, wash my truck or give the dogs a bath. My mother-in-law thinks there's nothing more relaxing than working in the garden or mowing the lawn where as I'd rather roast in hell before doing yard work. But telling someone their chores aren't really a chore and continually telling people what to be thankful for is sanctimonious bullhockey.

Footsie, I agree.
I love hand washing dishes, and some time later, after they have air dried --- I will manage to get them put up.
Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see. James Merritt
you must misunderstand me brat....I did NOT say I make a mess....husband either....but there are the dishes we EAT ON to clean up...silverware and glasses too...along with any serving items we use...we are neat cookers, we ALSO clean as we cook...lol sorry your husband is messy....
Sue all your help is gone....PAPER PLATES sounds like a plan...
but I do hear you on some chores just seem more "chorey" than others...especially when one has had a "day"..
