I have 3 sets. I have a pretty set of Noritake, which now almost never gets used. I also have a set of Corelle which is used daily, with birdhouses on it. I collect birdhouses, so had to have those. Then I have a set of 4 plastic plates, all diffeent colors, great for the patio dining. I like having Corelle, because if you want to add to it I can just go on the computer and order matching dishes.

Willie3, where do you go online for matching Corelle dishes?
Yes I have to many but when you entertain you want the changes. My favorite is our china from our wedding but just love to set a pretty table with new dishes and invite friends over.
We have a lot of dishes. Small, partial sets, which we purchased when we were first married -- packed away. Fragmented sets our folks gave us when we got married or when they downsized -- packed away. Set from my husband's grandmother, remnants from our folks, random Chinese restaurant supply dishes.... -- mostly all boxed up.What we use were my mom's Passover dishes (for meat), a cranberry glass set from Sears. I love them.Mom had the four sets; regular milk and meat sets, and separate milk and meat sets for Passover. But otherwise, some formal pieces, but no formal, special occasion set.
A lot of this is folk memories and cultural hangovers.

Try http://www.corelle.com/ or ebay, or just google corelle replacement pieces and you'll get a bunch of possibilities.

Thanks, Brat. I'll give them a try.

I have my good set - 16 sets of Lenox. I used to have every day set - but have gone away from that and just use pieces - a set of mugs, a certain amount of dishes and a certain amount of bowls - nothing matches and it doesn't matter to me anymore.

If you're missing pieces of dishes that were discontinued, you can often find them on replacements.com. They have dozens of discontinued patterns.
Yes, I do. Have a "thing" for pretty plates. But have been controlling myself lately. ;) I even gave one set away to a man who needed some dishes. And another set to someone??? I think I have 4 sets left. Not counting snack plates and things like that. :)
I have place settings for 12 of plain old winter white corelle... I am looking for something different tho...after almost 40 years it is time for a change..... and I have place settings for 16 of Princess Houses Heritage Crystal dishes and many many many serving pieces that I use for special occassions. There there is the plates for 150 from Chinette that I always have on hand!! Those are the ones we use outside or for lunch or when I am too lazy to wash dishes!!
Two sets. The color scheme for my house is black and white. Don't know why, but I just love the two colors together. When my two sons came back to live with me, I had hardly any dishes. It was just me so I didn't care. Used a lot of "contempary china" which you throw in the trash. Anyway, right at that time Target had a sale on a set of black dishes for eight. Fairly cheap too. Well, they are still going strong twenty=five years later. They just don't seem to break!!! My other set is all white, for twelve, but haven't used the in a long time as I don't have the heart or energy to entertain anymore. Used to have a set of Correlle, but did not have good luck with them. They kept breaking, haven't the faintest idea why. Guess I should get rid of the twelve piece set, would give to my son and family, but they just got a big set of Fiesta Ware. I'm sure they wouldn't want my dishes. I probably should sell or donate them.

I have 3 sets, Corelle Country Cottage for everyday use, set of Mikasa Dresden Rose I use a lot, and my Grandmother's set of Haviland china which I do use now and then.
I love china. I have a big set of everyday china by Pfaltzgraff with the pattern name of Olivia. I also have 4 fine china sets of dishes. Lenox Eternal, Lenox Fontaine, Mikasa Valentine, and my wedding china Noritake Prelude. They are all different and like to use them at different holidays and occasions. I also have several sets of crystal and silverplate patterns. I enjoy using them all!!
I love china and stoneware patterns. I used to work at Bloomingdales' in the bridal registry. I loved watching brides pick patterns. The most fun were Jewish brides who were (as LF mentioned) going to get 2 sets to keep kosher.
I have a set of Noritake Cumberland (China), and Pfaltzgraf Hopscotch (stoneware). They are not really being used currently. I have a bunch of fiestaware and that is what we use all the time.
I've always been torn between all white and bright colors...I love both!

I hate Correlle. My mother bought a set when they first came out, it was a green pattern on the rim. I think my sister still has some pieces of that stuff. We must have used it forever and ever. They were our every day dishes. Now I won't even buy it.
She also had a set of china that she got as a wedding gift. It was the ugliest stuff I ever saw. It was olive green, putrid yellow, and some kind of yucky brown. The whole set was disgusting and she never used it.
