Already into the second week of August. maybe I will try to follow the missions this week...anyone going to join me? lovely day today, they could all be like this...we opened up, no air conditioning on...fine with me. I may bump this later to keep it more current for you.
Hi,
Saw that alphy already started it for the week. Didn't make it to the farm, next week for sure it's been quite awhile since the last time we were there. Dm bday is Friday so will send her a card and pu some flowers on the way home.
Real nice weekend here also. Nice and dry. Even got my beans picked and am going to can them tom. morning, before it gets too hot. Even snapped them, don't like them whole, of course never tried it that way. Even got a sm. cuc out and there r a few more but real small.
Went grocery shopping and out to lunch, was so nice we just about ate outside. We could've even brought it home and ate outside here...
Reupholstered a foot stool that we received from dmil when she passed and dh is trying to put it back together for me. I had him make it into a small storage place under the top and I can here him thinking outloud trying to put it back together, .
Still have to sweep the steps, didn't do it last week, had too much else to do w dr. appt. and picking up the meat. In fact I was behind a day or so by the time Wed. lol. Hopfully this week I'll keep better track of what day it is and all, lol.
Had to help dh finish up the foot stool for me. Looks nice now. Better get going, want to start laundry yet tonight. Take care, .
Linda
Just a quick good morning gals!
Working just 1/2 day today. DD is leaving for Canada. She's actually taking the bus to Chicago and will be staying with a friend overnight who is also going. They will fly out of O'Hare. I will take her to the bus about 4:00PM.
Good weekend. Watched Olympics quite a bit. We went out to dinner with some friends Saturday night. Did the HB Saturday. Did some shopping at KMart and Office Max with DD yesterday. Getting some things for her trip and for back to school. She will only have a couple of days between returning from Canada and leaving for school.
Gotta go!
Hi everyone,
Got the laundry started, litters changed, kitchen floor washed, and beans r done. Now to finish the laundry. Have only 3 loads so shouldn't take too long.
I did the foot stool yesterday and sprayed some waterproofing on it also so it won't get dirty as fast. I also got some dark green fabric. By the way it took me helping dh to get it back together. I thought that was funny.
Am wiped right now and sure do want to nap, but want to shower and I may feel better.
Bil called dh on his cell and said he'll be coming in on the train, the only way I guess he could bring along the darn dog. He's calling him his service dog. When he wants something he'll find a way to do it...
Dd is going back to school this fall also, but I guess I'm watching dgs when she's there. TG he's starting 1st grade this year. Will be there from morning til afternoon, but dd is going to evening school for some reason. Maybe it's because she doesn't sleep at night, but all day. Her bf is back from visiting his brother or whatever he was doing there. She pu him from the airport last night at midnight. I guess it's cheaper at night or something. ? I haven't ever had the opportunity to fly so don't know first hand.
Better get busy and get things done, have a nice day, .
Hi everyone.
It's been very hard getting time to spend on the computer. DH is starting his out patient PT tomorrow. His speech is quite slurred and the confusion seems to be getting worse. He will hear part of a conversation and make up the rest. Then I have a hard time convincing him that's not what was said. Maybe it just me getting upset with trying to explain things 3, 4, or 5 times and he still doesn't understand. He's at work today and his brother will be bringing him home soon.
Linda - You got so much work done today. You put me to shame. I havn't even done the mission today. I did get to 3 different stores today in all the heat today. I don't want to leave the air conditioner. LOL
Cookie - It's hard to send your DD off to college again. Been there, done that.
Alphy - Sounds like your friends thought if they stayed long enough you would fix dinner for them,
Better get this posted.
Have a great day.
Dori
Hello ladies,
So good to hear from you Dori. I think of you often and wonder how you are doing. I know it's a struggle with all going on with your DH. Hang in there. You are in my prayers.
I have to admit I felt teary eyed dropping DD off at the bus. I'll be fine, but it is always a wrenching feeling when I have to let her go again. On the other hand, I am SO proud of her for all the things she does on her own. That independence is certainly something you want for them. I will certainly feel more relief when she becomes financially independent too!
Linda, I wouldn't have a clue how to do what you do - growing your own food and canning it. I admire you for that. Last time I tried to reulphoster a footstool DH helped me by taking it to an ulphostery shop!
Alphy, I always enjoy kitchen week. I do like to keep my kitchen clean. The hot spots are a never ending challenge though. Someone (me?) is always piling mail, recipes, CD's, newspapers etc. on the counters!!! I haven't been cooking nearly enough for my liking. I would like to turn over a new leaf on that. I'm going to run out to the grocery store after I get my ironing done. No sense in running there now while the store is crowded. I've done that thing where you stop at the store on the way home from work. Not a good idea! Everybody does that!
Off to do the ironing. Will do my countertops after the grocery store.
Everyone take care.
First of all, Dori, so good to see your post...think of you every day. I know how hard it is....well, I likely don't know, but we have a lot of Parkinson's here in our little town, and it is a sad progression.
Cookie, I do keep my kitchen fair...not as good as I used to do, but it is okay. I did the mission for today.
Linda, I, too, wonder how you get so much done, and frequently you aren't feeling all great. I don't get much done anymore.
We had tilapia for our dinner, a sweet potato and fresh tomato...easy enough. I see our grocery store (we only have one) has swai...a fish I have never tried, but a friend said it was good...I may get some and give it a try. I like fish.
Soon time to watch the Olympics!
TUESDAY today, clean out under your sink, you know how you amass things under there, and some of them you don't use! go for it
WEDNESDAY sort and toss plastic containers...the tupperware, glad ware, etc. if they don't have lids...toss them.
I finally finished the HB today...can't say that I did much more than that.
To be cooler tomorrow...yea.
I make a plan in my head and do it, that's how I get things done. Like thro the beans in the canner and than do the rest, 1 thing at a time. I rest in between and also make dgs and I breakfast.
I sure do hope it cools here, I'm getting sick of the air. Sometimes I get soo cold, I just wrap up in a blanket.
Got the bread I was getting low on, mailed dm her bday card, and gassed up the car. All I have to do is go in a small circle and I'm back home. Dm bday is Friday. If it's not raining out and nice this weekend will go home.
I think I have to rewash the kitchen floor, I've been looking at it and there's some dirty marks still in front of the trash can. Sometimes things don't get into the trash can all the way and fall on the floor. Noticed that today.
Dori, so glad u dropped in. My thoughts and prayers r w u and dh. I'm sure it's really hard for u.
cookie, can't wait til dd goes back to school, closer to when she graduates and hopefully moves out. I think she should be on her own also.
alphy, trying to keep up w missions, am pretty good w my plastic containers. Been going thru them often, or else I'd be overcome w those little rascals.
Better get going and finally get some sleep, have been laying around and trying to get some sleep, but it has eluded me for awhile. Have a great day, .
GM,
G, I woke up early and checked the weather and have been on puter since. Have to get rear in gear.
Have to finish up laundry, got dishes done, pots soaking, call clinic when it opens. So have a few things to do.
Better get to it, everyone have a great day, .
I've been waiting for the repairman and he finally got here, thank goodness. It's good to be able to start posting again and keep up with how everyone is doing. I just hope DH doesn't have anymore problems with DBS implants.
Better go. I'll call the shop and see if DH wants me to take him to the bank or should I get the oil changed. DH is not really ready for a full day at work. He came home last night very tired.
Enjoy your day.
Hi ladies,
Wonderful to see you back, Dori! What did you have to have repaired BTW?
I finally called KitchenAid and they tell me my coffeemaker is not repairable. I looked a little bit at Dillard's last night and didn't find anything I wanted. I will do some more looking over the weekend. Meanwhile, my little Mr. Coffee is doing fine. When I get another one I will take him to work! I will give making coffee at work a try, that way I don't have to carry it every day.
I have heard from DD via text messages. I had called our cell phone provider and found out that texting will be free to and from Canada. Phone calls are another story, also data usage, so she turned off her internet access and will only call in an emergency. Anyway, sounds like she's doing fine - the little world traveler!
Weather has cooled off some here, thank goodness. It's 79 degrees now. What a relief!
Must get to paying my bills. Everyone have a good evening.
THURSDAY go to your pantry...toss boxes of old things, straighten things out...you know...go for it.
DH is watching Olympics, well he thinks he is, actually he is sleeping. tomorrow is to be cooler.
Yes, Dori...so good to have your here a couple days...well all of you.
Linda, it seems as though you often don't feel good, but you get a lot done.
Cookie, hard when the kids leave, and yet we wouldn't want it otherwise, right?
I am reading, and sometimes watching the Olympics, but I am not glued to the set.
FRIDAY sweep and mop your kitchen floor...now isn't your kitchen delightful?
I couldn't sleep so am up in the middle of the night, not my idea, for sure.
