He is an Episcopal Priest, some may call him Father, some may call him Reverend, he may even be referred to as Doctor.(as in Doctor of Divinity) Being an interim or fill in does not change his being an Episcopal Priest. If you are not at your job in the evening does your career become null and void?

In this area a man that is an Episcopal priest is Father. If it's a mission church the priest could be referred to as Vicar. A woman is referred to as Mother or Pastor.

An Episcopal priest that fills in is called a supply priest. We have lots of supplies in our area. Some are retired. There is a mandatory retirement age in the Episcopal church. I'm not sure but I think it's 70. Many of the other supplies are grad students at the University of Notre Dame.

when i was young episcopal ministers were referred to as reverend, mr. dean or canon, depending where they stood in the church. the only "fathers" were Roman Catholic priests. then it seems the catholic priests wanted to get married so they became episcopal "Priests" and were called father...along with confessiopn, and the holy water and the whole thing. the division is known as hi episcopal and low episcopal. the hi's took over in our area and i, for one, left the church.
