Mix your dressing as it says on the package but use chicken broth instead of water. Saute celery, onion in the butter amount. I do use an egg or two depending on the amount of dressing mix and worchestershire sauce. If you want to add the liver and giblets go ahead or anything else you moght want in there.(I would not use raw oyster in this slow cooking recipe.) Spray your crockpot with a cooking spray and than add your mixture and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours. If there is too much condensation build up on cover and dressing appears to be to wet put a mat of paper towels over pot and than place lid on this.

    This is really good!

This was great! I halved the recipe as originally printed, not using the tweaks in parentheses!

Maudie's tweaks are in parentheses. I cut the original recipe in half and made it as written. Thanks, Star & Maudie!

    Maudie's Crockpot Cornbread Dressing

    Cook: 4 hrs

Grease Crockpot well or use a liner.

    4 1/2 cups cornbread crumbs
1 (16-ounce) package herb stuffing mix (Pepperidge Farm)
2 (10 3/4-ounce) cans cream of chicken soup
    2 (14-ounce) cans low-sodium chicken broth (1 quart box )
1 medium onion, chopped (2 large onions)
1/2 cup chopped celery (4 stalks at least-1 cup)
    4 large eggs
1 tablespoon rubbed sage (2 Tbsp rubbed sage)
    1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)
    1/2 teaspoon pepper (to taste)
2 tablespoons butter, cut up (1 stick butter melted and mixed in)

Stir together cornbread crumbs, stuffing mix, and next 8 ingredients in a large bowl.

Pour cornbread mixture into a lightly greased 5 1/2- or 6-quart slow cooker. Dot with butter. Cook, covered, on LOW 4 hours or until cooked through and set.
