Molasses should be stored in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator or a cool, dry place. Unopened containers should keep for about one year, while opened containers should keep for about six months.
That reminds me of a joke ...
Mama Mole poked her head out of their hole, sniffed the air and said, "It smells like Fall."

I bought a really large container of molasses once and took several years to use it up. Never had a problem at all.
