  • A tip if your Food Saver is not sucking out the air

Mine started doing this so I exchanged the old soft oblong gaskets on the lid and on the bottom with new ones and it still wouldn't work. Called my friend who I call the Food Saver king and this is what he said to do. Moisten a corner of a towel with water and wipe down both the seals....I only did the one side of both, not the bottom....making sure the seals are damp (not dripping wet) and low and behold it worked. I thought the pump had gone out and would have to buy a new one which Costco has on sale this month for $119. Ernie saved me some dough and I didn't have to replace the gaskets after all.

Just in the nick of time!  Thank you!  Mine's taking longer to suck out the air in some cases, but especially so when using the canisters.

I don't know whether my canisters wouldn't have worked either as I never thought to try them. Let us know if you have any luck.

I did replace the gaskets about three years ago when it wasn't working and that worked but not this time. They're not expensive to buy from Food Saver.

I've had problems off and on and had wondered if I could clean the gaskets there.

Thanks for your input and also ...send my thanks to Ernie!

I'll do that but he'll just get a swelled head!  Smile

If the gaskets look beat up you may have to order new ones though if moistening them doesn't work.
