I cannot remember a time when I didn't have an animal, nor would I want to live without one. My late friend Grace Perry was a very gifted poet and artist. She also was a great benefactor of homeless animals. here are two poems she wrote about some of the animals she rescued and loved. She, like I, loved all animals and wrote about them often. She even had a pure white Manx female that was trained to use the toilet.
FRIENDSHIP GOOD AND TRUE Adoring eyes that watch your every motionReflect the beat of faithful heart, and true. He only asks a pittance of devotion; A pat upon the head, a word from you and he will gladly brave the icy water To bring the game you've killed unto your hand. His creed; "I'm but the clay; you are the potter~~ Your will be done; I need not understand." In him you have a valiant companion in heat or cold, in sun or rain or snow,A-riding o'er the hills or down the canyon; In field or woodland, anywhere you go, Sometimes I sort 'a get to reminiscingOn joys we've shared ( and will share to the end)And I pity folks who know not what they're missing~ Those who have never had a real dog~freind!
SHUGAFOOTI take off my hat to Shuga the cat~ He's throughly unflappable. How I'd like to be so fancy free; So placid and cat-nappable.He's not one to pout, and never stress out, No matter what goes on around him.He knows that I feed and see to his need, But moral ties never have bound him.Sometimes when I'm down, the world seems to frown; I fail in all that I turn to, Consider the cat- Oh, to live like that! I promise myself that I'll learn to. Written by Grace Luella Peterson Perry

Cute little Dog I and my two Westies met at the Vets today. The dog was a shaggy little girl named Pickles.
Pickle's Mom said she had offered to let her kids name their pet but was immediately sorry when they chose the name Pickles!
Told her I thought it was cute and she said she had eventually took a shine (or become accustomed to it)

We have a new additon to our family.. I have adopted our neighbors Love Birds. They arrived nameless. So I watched these two characters for a while and the name suddenly struck me.
I think it fits them to a tee. They actualy squak to each other as if they are fighting. One has to be louder than the other. Then suddenly it all quiets down like they have just finished a good round of fighting. I peek in a low and behind one is on one bar and one is sulking on the opposite one !
But one things for sure when they sleep at night they are connected.
They are a funny little couple. And I think Ethel is the Big Mouth
Fred & Ethel.

What fun reading through this post again!
No new pets here thank goodness~just my hens and prima-donna golden retriever Gracie. I have a resin dog with a glass ball under the tree every year-and she is jealous of that stupid resin dog. When I go near the Christmas tree, she will beat me to it and get between it and me. She has even 'nosed' me across the floor from it with her jealousy! *shaking head*
Gracie is struggling with her health as she had a stroke when she was only three-the result of a thyroid issue that requires meds twice a day. She still gets confused occasionally but has determination and spunk. Here at Christmas, she is definitely trying to take center of attention with her hat and her own Christmas stocking...she gets a special treat everyday for countdown to Christmas and checks it every morning!
I needed to frost the Mt. Dew Cupcakes and I as I opened the box the bag had a tiny hole and powdered sugar went all over the floor. My little vacuum didn't need to run to lick it up, he was right in back of me so it was snowing powered sugar on him! Gabe and I went crazy, that's all we need is Max on a sugar high I'm posting the recipe for the cupcakes tomorrow and as an added bonus you get to see Max will some of the sugar still on him.
