Is Peppermint oil the same as Peppermint extract????

Is Peppermint oil the same as Peppermint extract????

I am making candy cane cookies. The recipe calls for extract. I have oil, is it the same strength?

No they are not the same thing. the oil is used in making hard candy. the bottles are really small, only about an inch tall, so i would venture to say you don't need to use near as much of the oil. i wouldn't try interchanging them unless you hear from someone who has tried it before.

You can interchange them but it doesn't take as much oil as extract. The bottle says that you can use it for hard candy as well as frostings, cookies,chocolates, fudge and baking. I bought mine to make salt water taffy in the TOH book but haven't done it yet.
