My sister is graduating this weekend and the only kind of beans she likes is canned pork and beans. I want to make enough for 20 people and am requesting your best baked beans (bbq style) recipe. Thanks in advance!

DH takes a can of bushes baked beans mixes in 2 to 3 tablespoons of ketchup 1 teaspoon of mustard 3 tablespoons of brown sugar and mixes it in. then he places a whole onion in the center and bakes them until the sauce is very very thick. They do not move on the plate. they taste pretty good and it is easy.

I mix in about a pound of ground hamberger or venison and a can of butter beans and more brown sugar along with the rest of ketchup and mustard. that is good too.

1 LARGE can of baked beans
    1 medium size onion
5 slices bacon, cooked, drained, crumbled
    3 tablespoons molasses
    3 tablespoons catsup
    2 tablespoons Worchestershire Sauce
    4 tablespoons brown sugar
    1 tablespoons mustard
2 tablespoons of a sweet type bbq sauce

    ---

Drain can of baked beans of excess juices. Saute onion in bacon drippings. Now add everything together in a large baking dish and bake for 30-45 minutes. Let cool for about 15 minutes before serving.

This is the best baked bean recipe I've ever tasted. You won't be disappointed, I promise you!

You can adjust the amounts of ingredients to what you like.

    LADONNA'S BAKED BEANS

    Serves: 4
    Effort: easy
Comments: Recipe made up by LaDonna

    Ingredients:
    2 (15 oz.) cans pork n' beans
1/3 cup barbecue sauce (we prefer Head Country)
    touch mustard
    1/2 diced onion
3 slices Canadian bacon or regular bacon (diced)

    Instructions:
    Mix all but bacon
Put into a 9” cake pan or casserole that has been sprayed with a non-stick cooking spray
    Place diced bacon on top
    Bake 425 45 - 60 min.

You can make this on top of a stove. Just use a non-stick cooking pan and simmer slowly. I usually brown the bacon first if I do it on the stove.

    To burnedit:

I love the idea of putting a whole onion in the baked beans. AND I like baked beans that don't move on the plate (as you said)

    Thanks!

My Aunt gave me this great recipe, it uses several types of beans, but I bet you could use just the one type.

    Put into Crock Pot:
    2 cans Pork&beans
    1 can butter beans
    1 can Kidney beans

Brown together then add to Crock Pot:
    1 big onion chopped
    1 LB. ground beef
    1 LB. bacon

    Add to Crock Pot:
    3/4 c. ketchup
    2 TBS. liquid smoke
    2 TBS. vinegar (optional)
    salt and pepper to taste
Cook on low for all day, or high for 1/2 day.
We love this recipe, but it makes a huge batch (perfect for a party), but not a family of two and a half. I have never had it with the vinegar, and it is great without it.

    “DOCTORED UP” BEANS

    4 Strips bacon, cut up
    1 large onion, chopped
2 31 ounce cans pork and beans
    1 teaspoon prepared mustard
    1/4 c catsup
    1/2 c brown sugar
    1 “drizzle” molasses

Heat oven to 300°. Sauté bacon and onion until onion is tender, drain.
Stir in beans, mustard, catsup, brown sugar and molasses. Bake in a greased 3 quart casserole, uncovered, for 2 to 3 hours or until beans are brown and bubbly. Serve hot.

You could substitue 3 Tbsp of Real Bacon bits for the bacon.

For 20 people, I would double this recipe.

This has more than pork and beans, but it's the very best!

    RANCHO BEANS

2-16 oz. cans of pork and beans
1-16 oz. can of kidney beans, drained
    1 lb. ground beef
1 pkg dry onion soup mix
    1 cup ketchup
    1/2 cup water
    2 Tbsp mustard
    2 tsp. vinegar

Brown beef and drain. In separate bowl, mix all other ingredients together. Add ground beef and mix well. Put in 9x13 pan and bake for 45 minutes at 400 degrees.

A great take-along and can be doubled or tripled easily.
