Here is a recipe for a cake made with hot milk.... still searching for something with a coconut frosting. Hope this helps.

    4 eggs
    2 cups sugar
    2 1/4 cups flour
    2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 1/4 cups milk
    10 teaspoons butter

Beat eggs on high until thick, (5 minutes).
Gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
    Combine flour and baking powder.
Add to batter and beat on low until smooth.
    Add vanilla.
In saucepan, heat milk and butter just until the butter melts.
Add to batter, beat until combined.
Pour into a greased 13x9 pan.
Bake at 350F degrees for 35 minutes.
    Test for doneness.

Where did you taste this cake? If it's a German recipe, Kuchen means cake. Generally warm, hot or scalded milk is used in kuchen recipes. I'll look through my German ccokbooks if you like.

Hi Texasrosell, You mentioned German cookbooks. Are these cookbooks written in German? I saw some at a thrift store and I believe they're still there after all these months.
I thought wow what a find for someone who could read German.

My German cookbooks are translated from German to English. I can read some German because I took 3 years of it in High School. I've forgotten so much of it though. My most prized German cookbook is from a hotel/restaurant Rothenburg ob der Tauber. I found it in an antique store. It appears that whoever originally purchased it bought it in Germany. It has a postcard from the place and a brochure from it too, all written in German. It's called "German Cookery" by Hans Karl Adam.
