May I suggest that once you post a recipe, you GO BACK and check on your posting a few times when your schedule permits.

Many times there will have been posted questions about a recipe that it takes "forever," if at all, for the original poster to answer. Occasionally, someone other than the original poster will be kind enough to step up and give the answer.

I've seen instances where a number of replies have praised the recipe (and thanked the poster) before someone notices a problem - size of pan, amount of an ingredient, cooking time or temperature, etc. Other times the very first responder will detect something - the "problem" - and ask for clarification. Often folks have copied the recipe and moved on - maybe not discovering they even have a question until some time later when they might be in the middle of making the recipe. (They're not happy!)

My point is that if everyone would just click on their own postings, they could discover these questions and, quite probably, answer most of them - helping "copiers" as well as assuring that their posted recipe is really as good as they thought. Say, for example, someone posts a recipe and they are still on the board even 15 or 20 minutes later - I think they should go back and click on the recipe they posted, just to see if there were any questions about it. If a person posts a recipe and then leaves the board right away - BUT, they are back in 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours, or whatever - THEN that person should check their earlier post to see if "all is well."

When I posted this a couple months ago many BB’ers seemed to be in agreement. Some had suggestions that they thought would help them make a “success” of the recipe: such as the poster giving more accurate package sizes, brand names, number of servings, etc. “Going back” would alert a poster to questions about his/her recipe. GO BACK!

Excellent suggestion. I try to go back for several days after I have posted something.

When I start any thread, I always shceck the box that says, "Email me when someone replies" or something like that. That way, I know when someone adds a reply to my thread, and I can respond to any questions.

Perhaps we can get everyone into that habit, and it might help.

Very good suggestion Linda. I try to do this with the search box, but sometimes don't make it back until the next day.

Also I wish posters would put the amount of serving on the recipe if it's available.

bump - I want as many people as possible to read and HEED this!

Many "guilty" recipe posters are doing an injustice to themselves (Their recipes are sometimes not used or turn out wrong.)as well as doing a disservice to those who waste the time, effort, ink, etc. to read, copy, or print the recipes - only to notice a problem later.

I find such problems on 35% to 40% of the recipes I study thorougly. You will, too, especially in those scanned in.

Sorry to be such a grouch - but others obviously agree - and somebody has to say it.
