I haven't bought these in many years, and back then, some were pretty bad! Which are the best now? I know they have been improved a lot.

Would sure appreciate your opinions! Thanks so much!

Our family likes the frozen Ore Ida. Just add milk & microwave.

    Thanks, Foodobsessed! I'll try them!

What about the dry flakes in a box? Any suggestions about those?

Idahoan and betty crocker make the best mashed and scallopped IMHO. Fantastic for camping too!

Idahoan is very good. It is perfect for 2 and is very moderately priced. 99 cents per packet in my area. Does not require milk either. There are many different types to choose from~ The Homestyle and Garlic are very good the Fully Loaded has a Southwestern kick to it~ I see that there is also 4 Cheese available as well as Baby Reds. ~Janie~~

Perfect for a Sheppards pie topping as well~

Potato Buds, in a brown box. I think they are made by Betty Crocker.

I'll buy private label (store brand) of many things, but not instant mashed potatoes. It really makes a difference.

Idahoan is the best. My best friend gave me the secret to best instant mashed potatoes years ago. I have used it ever since and it is still a big hit. Instead of using water then adding milk to it, you use all milk-the POWDERED milk that has been MIXED with water-a little stronger than the directions call for- salt the milk, add butter, heat til really warm, NOT boiling. Then add the potato flakes. After they absorb the liquid, add butter and I always pour some heavy cream over the top and drop a lump of butter on top-yummmmm :) k.
