Does anyone have a recipe for making this? Or does anyone know what spices are in commercial fried rice seasoning mix?

    Thanks in advance!

I may be wrong but I don't think there is any such thing. Chinese fried rice gets it flavour from soy sauce, MSG and a bit of salt. The veggies or meat that you add to it increase the flavour.

I just got the Quick Cooking annual today and there is a recipe in there that calls for Fried Rice Seasoning Mix. When I did a google search, I found several recipes using it as an ingredient, but no recipe to make the mix.

I am not sure what it is or what is in it. Like you, Marlene, I have always just seasoned my fried rice with soy sauce.

Seems like I've seen it in a pkg...like dried...like in with dried spaghetti sauce mix, sloppy joe mix, hollandase sauce...you know that kind of mix. But I don't know what is in it. Sorry...good luck.

Here's a recipe and review from this BB. Hope this helps. I know I had Fried Rice just last night at a Japanese restaurant & he used soy sauce, white wine, a little butter with cooked white rice and onion, carrot & celery.

Posted by: Weeddigger: This is only for those that want the best Fried Rice you've ever had & don't mind the time it takes in the preparation. I have made this for years & would never try a different one! Please let me know if (& when) you make it. You won't be sorry. I usually double this & freeze it. If you know you will freeze some, leave the scallions & bean sprouts out and add when reheating.

Review posted by: Hillsmom: I made this for dinner tonight and it was EXCELLENT! I didn't think that it was too time consuming. There was a good bit of chopping, but it didn't take too long. After that, everything cooked quickly. I made a few minor changes: I used 2 large fresh mushrooms, sliced, in place of the canned ones. I added them with the garlic. I used hoisin sauce for the brown sauce (maybe that is what you meant by brown sauce, though). I didn't use the bok choy because I couldn't find it at the store. That was probably good, since my pan was full without it. One recommendation for next time -- keep the bowl covered to keep in the heat. Perhaps because my pan was so full, the fried rice was hot, but not piping hot.

(My note: hoisin sauce is not the same as brown sauce.)

lin_65 or blueridge_va   Some of my older posts were as homebody in '02 and had 2-3 other forgotten names; there were so many problems with the old BB. I had to log out each time and using a dial-up ISP; trying to log in again, would be denied entry; until I got another name. Does not seem possible that so many years have passed. And now I'm wireless, have an android tablet and a 2006 Dell. That's an upgrade and is very fast. Makes me happy when I'm looking for recipes.

Thank you all so much. I will check out the mixes' threads.

I did a BB lookup on Fried Rice Seasoning before I posted this request and nothing showed up, but I have been having mixed luck with BB search tool lately.

If I find something in one of kokonut's or the other threads, I will post it here.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about as I LOVE those Fried Rice mixes!! I believe the one I use and love is Sun Bird brand I've tried to make my own version and haven't been able to do it yet. :)

I figure that for $.79 I'll just continue to buy the mix - as that with a few other ingredients is the best fried rice I've ever had in my life and I swear when I make it I could live on it for days at a time, eating nothing else. LOL.

I'm not always the board much and I miss a lot of posts, but I'll be sure to do a search next month to see if you have found a copy cat recipe for the mix.
