you can do the same thing with chicken livers or chicken gizzards.
marinate meat over night with soy sauce, meat- marinade
slice bacon in halves, lay halves on cutting board,
put sliced water-chestnut on bacon half.
put meat ( mini-hotdog, shrimp, liver, gizzard, heart on chestnut
roll up, seam side down
broil until done, or bake until brown
use meat therometer

Intersting seeing the recipes posted. Never used the brown sugar. Here is how I learned many years ago to make them...
Take a hot dog and cut them into bites or use little hotdogs
Slice a thin line in the hotdog with a knife not perforating to the bottom of the hotdog.
Add a slice of cheese in slitted area. You can also do some without cheese.
Wrap a piece of bacon around the outside of the hotdog, pinning it edge to slightly overlapping edge.
Place on the grill or in a baking pan or cookie sheet until bacon is crisp in a 350 degree oven. Then Enjoy!
