I need the recipe of how to make stuffed cabbage in the crock pot withput rolling them. I guess you use shredded or cabbage leaves just over the meat and rice but I am not sure how to do it.

Terrific thread. With hot weather almost here in Sunny Florida, time to pull out the crockpot! Here's one of our favorites:

    Swedish Cabbage Rolls

    12 large cabbage leaves
    1 beaten egg
    1/4 c milk
    1/4 c finely chopped onion
    1 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp black pepper
1 lb lean ground beef (raw)
    1 c cooked rice
    1 ( 8 oz) can tomato sauce
    1 tbsp brown sugar
    1 tbsp lemon juice
    1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Dip cabbage leaves into boiling water for about 3 min or until they become limp; drain well.
Combine milk, egg, onion, salt, pepper, beef and cooked rice. Place about 1/4 c meat mixture in center of each leaf; fold in sides and roll ends over meat. Layer in crockpot with seam-side down.
Combine tomato sauce with brown sugar, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce. Pour over cabbage rolls. Cover and cook on low 7-9 hours.
Can be made day before and refrigerated. Then place in crockpot next a.m. Makes 6 servings.

Use the rest of the cabbage for soup or coleslaw later.

    Boo44,

Maybe you can adapt this to a crockpot:

    1 lb. hamburger
    1 med. onion chopped fine
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 can tomato soup

Place cabbage in med to large greased casserole dish.Layer ingredients in above order.I combine the soup and water before pouring over.Cover and bake 1 hour and 15 mins. at 350.(I break hamburg apart while cooking so it doesn't clump together)

    Hi there,
I'm polish like your husband and there are a thousand ways to make "golumpki" or cabbage rolls.
Here is how my "Busha" (grandmother)made them, with my short cuts added. This is for a big crock pot.
    3 lbs. hamburger
1 1/2 cups barley or rice, cooked.
    1 head cabbage,chopped,bite size
    1 28oz. can tomato puree
1 50 oz. can tomato soup
    salt & pepper

I just throw every thing into the crock pot for 8 hrs. or so.
I cook it over night to get that next day flavor.
My Busha used the cheapest ingredents she could find, and I use the cheap hamburger for the taste.
Feel free to use the low-fat if you chose( I don't think it tastes as good).
Also, rice is fine, but try it some time with "Quaker quick cook barley",I think your husband will like it.
If you like spicy, try using hot sausage instead of hamburger.
I know this is kinda late, but I just saw it while looking for cabbage ricipes.
    Enjoy !
"smacznego" I have no idea what this means, but it was in a polish cookbook. All my old polish family are gone.
