  • muselix recipe
A few years ago on a cruise ship I had a cold oatmeal type of breakfast with other ingredients and topped with fruit or nuts and it was called muselix-not the cold cereal that now is in box form in the supermarket. Does anyone have a recipe for this? Would be appreciated MARY

    might it be this?

    Swiss Mueslix

    2 lbs. nonfat vanilla yogurt
2 cups uncooked quick or regular oatmeal
2-4 cups fresh or canned fruit
    1 cup chopped nuts

Mix yogurt and oatmeal. Add any combination of fruit. May add nuts. Stir together, place in bowl or container and cover. Must allow to "sit" overnight; also keeps well for several days. Serve in attractive bowl, garnished with jams, fresh fruit.

    BASIC MUESLIX RECIPE

    2 cup uncooked oatmeal
    1 cup skim milk
    2 each large apples, chopped
    1/4 cup chopped nuts
    1/2 cup raisins
    1/4 cup sugar or less
    1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
    3/4 cup plain non-fat yogurt
    2 tbsp wheat germ
    Cinnamon to taste

An unusual cold cereal-you can also be creative and add other ingredients you have on hand. Serve with toast or muffins. Combine milk and oatmeal and let set at least 30 minutes (or overnight in refrigerator). Chop or grate apples and combine all ingredients, adding cinnamon to taste. Makes about 6 cups.

NOTE: Other fruits could be added, and water or orange juice could be substituted for milk.

    Servings: 6
