I am looking for a butter chess pie that is similar to a nut less pecan pie. Furr's Restaurant makes one but unfortunately they have moved and they will not give out that recipe. My Grandmother is turning 90 and loves this pie, I would love to surprise her with one, Can anyone help please??
This might help.
BUTTER CHESS PIE (SIMILAR TO FURR'S)Source: Texas MonthlyPosted by: VickieI recieved the recipes the manager at Furrs said she would send me of Chess pie. This is the recipe she said is the most like the one they make at Furrs.1 cup sugar1 cup butter3 egg yokes and 1 white3 tablespoons water1 tsp vanillaCream butter and sugar as if for cake. Add egg yokes and the one white and beat untill foamy; add water and vanilla, again beating until well mixed. Pour this into a 9 inch unbaked pie shell and bake at 350 for anywhere from 35 to 1 hour. Test with clean knife. When it comes out clean(no custard clinging to it), the pie is done.I hope this works for everyone that is wanting the recipe.Happy baking :o)
