I am new around here...so please help me out!! Our grocery store used to carry THE PERFECT noodles for my chicken noodles which is my hubby's favorite meal...they were a thick doughy noodle and I can't find anything to replace it...any suggestions? Anything that might be close and easy to make?? Thanks

Grandma’s noodles taste similar to Reams. There are also homemade noodles, very simple to make the night before.

Cyndi, look for kluski egg noodles or Amish egg noodles in the dried pasta section of the grocery store where the regular spaghetti, macaroni, etc noodles are. They are the thicker style you might like.

I used to use Reams, now I use Kluski (spelling?) egg noodles in the dry pasta section of the grocery store. They are very good.

Hi cyndicooks, May I ask what brand of noodles they were?

Thanks for the ideas everyone. Actually I have been using the kluski ones since I couldn't find the Reams and they are all right but not the same. Anyone know where I could get a recipe for homemade ones?

    Thanks again

    Cyndi,
I've never tried Ream's noodles, but here are 2 easy noodle recipes.

    Chinese Homemade Noodles
    1 c. flour
    1 egg
    3/8 c. water
    1/4 c. cornstarch

Mix all ingredients. Add more flour, if neccesary, to roll out easy. Roll out very thin and cut itno 1/2-inch strips. Drop into boiling stock or lay out on clean cloth to dry.

    Grandma's Noodles
    3 sm. eggs, beaten
    Dash salt
    2 c. flour
    4 T. milk

Mix all ingredients together. Roll out on floured surface to thickness desired. Put a generous amount of flour on top and roll longways. Cut with knife about 1/8-inch wide. Dry for about 2 hours on rack or cookie sheet. Drop into boiling broth. Boil 10 minutes. Let stand another 10 minutes before serving.

Cyndi, Grandma's noodles are a frozen noodle just like Ream's.

VFaith's Grandma's noodles are closest to what you want.

Cyndi - Most Wal-Marts carry them in the frozen foods section. I checked for my daughter-in-law in NYC and 3 Wal-Marts came up on the search but that was all! Good luck - I love them too.
