Janie, this will be perfect for our soup and salad night with friends coming soon. I don't usually use a recipe but I will this time. hmmm, wonder what kind of wine goes with ham and beans
I am still debating on a couple more soups but this will be one of them. It is definitely a casual night~I might even start up the grill if the wind isn't blowing too hard! I still have several smoked hocks in the freezer as we have hogs butchered at least once a year and this will be a good way to use a couple of them(one of our friends thinks ham and bean soup is gourmet dining!)
I love this soup but when I make it, I'm the only one at my house who eats it. My kids' babysitter's husband used to make this soup - he added hot sauce to his. Yum!
Nothing better than old fasioned soups.
