I was asked to make a LOT of candied yams for dinner and yet somehow they were barely touched. Does anyone have a way they use them up? I was thinking perhaps as a substitute for the taters in a shepherds pie? Just not sure how well the sweet would go with that.
A big no on the shepards pie.Way too sweet in my opinion.
I`d mash them and make small patties, then freeze them.Use as many or as few as a sidedish for ham, pork, chicken.
Can warm in butter in frying pan or just microwave.
Hope I`m making sense.
Cooking....you have email.
Send some to us. We had rice pilaf, no potatoes.
If you use pork, chicken, or turkey instead of beef the Sheppards pie might be okay. I don't think it would work with beef.
I googled....... what to do with left over candied yams.....and there are several sites to go to.
How about sweet potato pie using the yams? Look up a recipe for it and go from there.
Ernie and Sonia always have sweet potato pie on the fourth of July and it's very good.
