Hello, again
Getting tired of liquids...except the chilled white wine...that's fine! took a can of soup today and Ninja'd it smooth- at least felt like I was having something OK...I've been having the Atkins shakes- tasty, but not enough..so skinny I'll be! I have found a couple of recipes for milkshakes without ice cream- one looks good- other have powdered milk ( ewww and very high carb!)
Tommow we'll pick up MIL from airport- she's been in DC ith my SIL for a week- they have way too much heat there...dangerous heat for so many!
Hope you are all faring well.
Sending extra love to Janie and Ann and others...
M.
I ladies,I`ve been peeking in to see if Janie`s been visiting in the last few days.I see she was`nt. So I emailed Nancy-nj.She called Janie. Here`s what Nancy sent to me from Janie.--
From Nancy-nj --I just talked to Janie. She said she is starting to feel much better and should be on next week some time. The pain meds give her an upset stomach but thankfully she has an anti-nausea pill. I offered to come down and stay w/ her but she said Eddie has been a big help.

Rosie
Hi everybody ~
It's hot here, but not humid, thankfully & a lovely breeze. If it wasn't for the breeze, we'd be baking.
What a wonderful report for Haakon, Carol. Eyesight is so important, especially for a young person. Please keep your hot & muggy, or send it somewhere else other than over this way. Jeez I hate that stuff!
Margaret, I'm not surprised that you're getting sick of liquids. I think I would have been tired of them even before I started, but I'm glad to know that you're not in much pain & that's the most important thing. Besides, the wine doesn't sound too bad. You just need to forget about l/c for awhile! Glad to hear your MIL is coming home. Heat is really not good for older people. Mom used to have a problem breathing.
Rosie, thanks so much for the update on Janie & Blair. You are a sweetheart & we've all been wondering. I'm so glad to hear that Janie is feeling better.
Other than taking a break & going to get my hair cut, I've been in the kitchen cutting up fruit for Casey's graduation party tomorrow. I've got one more cantalope to cut up & then I'm done! Whew!!! Tine's been over off & one all day getting any number of things. I took one container of fruit over to the church kitchen's frig. I'll take it over before I go tomorrow. There was just not enough room in my frig for both containers. I'll try & get here tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I can. Stay cool & enjoy the rest of your day. Margaret, if you can't fill up on liquids, put a straw in a bottle of that wine & you'll forget all about being hungry. LOL
Barb
Hi-
Rosie- thanks so much for the update on Janie and Blair- I've sent some emails, etc...but know she's been having a tough time...it'll be so good when she is feeling well enough to join in! Thanks!
Barb- good luck cutting all the fruit...it'll be so perfect for the party!
Bye for now...moving to a cooler room!
Good morning! May I pour? Welcome to July!
Up a bit too early- a little warm...went to bed early- Fester is talking...I'll be back later!
hope your day looks good!
Good Morning Everyone,
This has been some week with the heat it just drains every bit of energy out of you. Yesterday it registered 98° on the car at 5 o'clock coming home. Poor Jenny left Kirsten's before we did by about an hour and she got caught up in a parade in Portage I never thought to tell her about it because I didn't think she went thru the town. She called me to see were about we were and to warn me we missed it by minutes and it took Jen 45 minutes to find her way around it. You know how it is when you aren't that familiar with a place. Ellie had a nice party and can hardly believe the next one is in three weeks.
Barb I was forever cutting broccoli and cauliflower and it didn't get eaten I left what was out for Kirst and brought home the rest maybe I'll make soup. I hope you have wonderful weather for Casey's party today and that you get to relax and enjoy everyone. I helped Kirsten with everything before the others arrived and when her friend Terri got there she and I just sat and caught up on what's been going on. Terri and I are like long lost sisters of the heart if not blood. We sit and make each other laugh. Do you think you will be able to go to the lake this week?
We had a tiny bit of rain this morning and I'm hoping for more also wishing with all my heart that Colo would get some heavy rain to put the fires out.
Margaret I saw on the news last night that DC got hit terribly with heat and I think storms I am certainly glad your MIL left before the worst. Storms all over and we are fine here and hoping that all the rest of you are OK too. I could hardly stay awake for the news so I'm not sure where they hit other than central and eastern areas. This is the time of year for storms, tornadoes lightning and thunder so do be careful. I haven't had time to even look for an A/C unit in a store but hope too soon. I don't know if too many even carry this type but we can order if we need to Wal Mart delivers to the store so they'll take it back and get us another if anything would be wrong with it I am glad to know that they cool well. Thanks for the info so much better to have it first hand.
I think today we will lay around and not do much but then who knows.
Carol
Hello, July. Lots of my friends and relatives have birthday this month, including my daughter and her baby due,my best friend and relatives.
Margaret I hope you are feeling much better today. I should go to the dentist too,to have my teeth cleaned, but at 108 F ,I don't think it is this urgent and we wait for a cool off, and rain, not in sight for this week. By the way, somebody asked,if we are back home, yes we are back in Missouri. We just left before the fires started. I have a friend from here, who went for the first time to Colorado,to Colorado Springs and Manitou and I think she just happen to leave before the fires. Maybe she was the last one to eat at the Lazy W-Ranch ( I think that was the name of it?),which burned to the ground, after several generations owned it. It was so much fun to eat there.--------------------We went to the opera last night and the AC quit in both cars. One is my DS cars and the AC was just repaired. We left our car there, since the ordered muffler got lost in the shipment and we could not drive without one home. DS wanted to come this weekend, but in this heat driving through Kansas is not a good idea.
Doris, bitte schicke uns etwas von Eurer Kälte (please send us some of your colder weather). Those temperatures we would find in Colorado too in the morning, but not anymore.
Rosie, thanks for the update on Janie.
Barb,I hope you have fun at the graduation party. I am happy I don't have any invitation today in this heat.
Waving to all the rest of you and I have to read some of the other posts again. I can't keep up can I ?
Renate
Hi-Good to see you, Carol and Renate! ( And you don't even look sweaty!)
Yup...way too hot...and I still feel for those who are suffering so much. The terrible fires- so many lost their homes, their neighborhoods, etc...just so sad...
I am not having much fun with this liquid diet business...I did have scrambled eggs for b'fast, and an Atkins shake for lunch, but it's very much a nuisance...and I'll be going through it again in a couple of weeks for the other side... ( oh, poor me... )
I've been sitting and reading...not much else..
Waving and sending hugs...
Back later!
It was 46 here this AM, I still have flannel sheets on the bed. Hard to believe those high temps and that awful humidity, the humidity would be the "killer" for us, I think. I don't know how you guys do it!
Margaret, have you tried "Premier Nutrition" shake/drinks, they sell them at Costco, 160 cal., 5 carbs, 3 fiber, only 3 fats. Those Atkins shakes have too much fat for our taste, sort of greasy or something. But this other brand that we just "happened" on, seem better, and have 30 grams of Protein. We have tried every drink/shake nutrition stuff sold, and blah to most of them, as far as taste goes. Sorry for you doing this thing. Have you blended fat free no sugar added ice cream yet? Actually just a dairy product, not really "ice cream", but taste wise, the Blue Bunny brand is good, and "house brand" from our Safeway has less calories, but only vanilla flavor. Blue Bunny has some good, normal, flavors, like mint chocolate chip, and so forth. What does Steve eat while you drink?
Renate, you sure have that nasty heat, 108, I wouldn't feel like cooking anything, but, somehow, can always be "talked into eating", lol.
Waving at yah, Barb, busy as ever, especially on a Sunday.
Carol, do you steam alot of veggies ahead of time, so you have it ready to go in the fridge? That is something I've had to do for several years around here, so dh gets his "required" servings in, and he finally began eating salads again, all of a sudden.
Do the rest of you buy the bagged salads? I haven't bought a regular salad head in years, it just dawned to me when I saw the heads in the store.
dh has his facial "thingee" removed Tuesday, so he is aprehensive about that one, hopefully it will go well and not too much pain.
Take care of yourselves, folks. I have to cut up strawberries, we bought a bunch from the produce farm, and I need to process them for our evening snack.
One more hour of bike time and I'm done for todays exercise, thankfully.
Doris
Hi, Doris-
Thanks for the suggestions- we don't have a costco or a Safeway, but i'll google up the products and see what's around...I hope your dh does real well on Tuesday- tell him we're thinking about him!
Back later...time for more Advil..
Pour Margaret has to be on a the wrong diet. You must be hungry all the time.
Doris great to see you and your cool temperatures. In this house we have central AC,but it is terrible do be inside all the time. You know,we grew up being outside in the summer. Of course I am thankful for the AC. In our first house, after I got married,we only had window units and only downstairs and the bathroom was upstairs. After one took a shower, you could not dry yourself upstairs,it was too hot and humid, you had to run downstairs. You slept with fans, which was not too bad, since the house had windows on all sides and there was a good draft. But some night, like right now it maybe only cools down to 90F=32C,while during the day it is 108F=42C------I never bought bagged salad. There was a few times problems with it,it was contaminated with bacterias. ====I will think about your DH on Tuesday.
