Gm Rosie,  I hve never tried the powder pacs.  I do like the gel ones.  They do a very thorough job on the dishes. Especially glassware.  No spots !

    Hope all is well.

That book continues to entertain me. Here's another chef you know Anthony Bourdain.  Wow ~ Amazing what filthy, dirty kitchens  many of these chef's  have worked in.

I use the power pacs, my glasses were getting so cloudy and in a couple washes they sparkle now.

I recently switched from another powder to the Finish power tabs. I love them! The dishes do not need pre-rinsed AND come cleaner! I'm hooked.

I've been using the power tabs for about a year and I think they work well. I used the cascade gel pacs before they took the phosphate out. I tried a couple of products before settling on the Finish. I like how they clean!

I am a fan of the finish power tabs - the one with the little red ball in them.  They work great!!!  I am still using the stash of this soap I bought 2 years ago from Big Lots after the "Phosphate change"  I won't have to buy dishwasher soap for a long time yet.

Thanks  Everyone.  I am going to pick up some of the Finish.  Then I won't have to add the rinse product to the dishwasher.  Sounds  Good,,

As Cookguy mentioned the Finish Powerball Tabs (with the Red ball on top) do a great job- far surpassing the Cascade gel packs I had been using, My DS put me on to them when I noticed how much sparkle his glasses had.

I had a rinse agent  left in my DW when I first tried  them and I liked the look  and sparkle so I did not want to "fix what wasn't broken".  The Rinse agent lasts me a long time  and doesn't break the bank so I still use one when  I see I am low.

I had run out at one point and the dishes still looked good so it may or may not be necessary but I'm happy with the current appearance as it stands .
