    What?

What would you miss at a potluck dinner if someone didn't bring it?

All of Ellies dishes besides a meat or 2. Being from the Midwest, I agree on some kind of jello. Our church potlucks always clean the "Pretzel Salad" dish. Couscous, Quinoa, tofu and etamame always seem to get taken back home. We have enough soybeans growing in our front yard that I can have all I want. I don't need to pay a big price for "etamame". I tasted it once and that was enough. Also had some of Quinoa at $4. a lb. at a poor relatives house. That was the most tasteless stuff I ever ate. Almost everybody agreed, because most of the dish went uneaten, so it wasn't just me.  What a waste of $4.

I live in the Midwest, but for an outside picnic, I never saw a jello salad or dish. I also never had meatballs or Lasagne at a picnic. Most of the time it is BBQ, Hamburgers Hot Dogs or Pork Steaks. With those a Sauerkraut Salad is great and also a layered lettuce salad.

Well according to my 10 y/o son, it isn't a party unless there are potato chips and onion dip!  ha ha..

for summertime potlucks there HAS to be pasta salad, but for indoor potlucks, there is always a mini crockpot filled with little smokies and bbq sauce.

We have a lot of work potlucks and refrigeration is not always adequate for what one could have at home so Macaroni salad, potato salad and either fresh dinner rolls, Italian or french bread ,croissants etc are must haves.

If the potluck is not at work I would  really miss deviled eggs, various cheeses  and a decadent dessert  like a cheesecake (or the like) a lot if they weren't present.

Now-a-days, when I go to a pot luck, there is always a broccoli salad and maybe two or three. I can't argue the fact that they are delicious but they always turn up at a pot luck. And, there are all sorts of variations - and they're all good.

Up here where I live, we usually have potlucks in the winter (gives us something to do, I guess!) and I usually made a noodle dish, most often chicken and noodles.

One time, none of us checked with the others and we ended up with all desserts!  That was fun!!
