Grelo I'll bet those cookbooks are very fun, even if you'd never cook a thing that was in them! Of course - that's the cookbook addict in me talking, LOL.
If there is no copyright then I would think you'd be okay. Not sure I'd be interested in Wild Boar's Head but my daughter has made Ginger Beer and it wasn't too bad!

Susan, have you read the labels on some hot dogs and other "lunch meats"?
I have and have found such nice things as "Snouts, Lips, Udders and other meat by products".............plus all the chemical names for all sorts of preservatives...
One reason I have not bought any of that sort of thing for many, many years. Boar's Head does not sound too bad after reading those ingredients. At least you see what you eat; the cheeks and part of the neck should be pretty good

Eww Eww Eww! Haha
I'm really careful about what processed meat I buy for just that reason! I'm not a parts & pieces kinda gal
Couple of years back - simple & delicious and taste of home issues published two recipes which I had posted on the forum- they did not even inform me that they were publishing those recipes and now they do not approve that we post recipes from other sites on the toh forum
Salsa I know that you're upset about this but the Terms and Conditions - which you agree to when you join this site - state very clearly that you grant TOH permission to use anything you post here.

Taste of home is not telling you that you can't post recipes that belong to you on the forum, they're saying that you can't post other peoples recipes on the forum without permission from that owner to do so.
When you take photos from a blogger without their permission it really is the same as stealing them. It's not legal and it's not moral. People display they're things for you to look at and enjoy, not for you to take and give to someone else.
If you bought a great bunch of grapes at the store you wouldn't just take them from the store and hand them to me, you'd tell me what store you bought them at so I could go get my own.
This is really no different - really.
As long as I've been participating on the board I can't remember someone "stealing" a blogger's picture or recipe...I have seen comments alluding to the fact the gals want to "share" a recipe off the blogger's website that they have tried and really liked but all the time giving the blogger the credit....Ree Drummond is a great example of this. So let me get this right--if we want to share a recipe we have seen on her website we have to get in contact with her to ask if this is all right??? Think there will be a lot less recommendations...When the gals review a recipe or recommend one I really like looking at the recipe on the TOH forum and not having to close down and go to the blogger's website.
If I bought a bunch of grapes at the store and sat down with you I would SHARE them with you--not tell you where I bought them and tell you to go buy your own.
PS - how the heck did we go from talking about this subject to discussing the ingredients in hotdogs???

"I found this lovely recipe in a book called "Bundt Classics" by Dorothy Dalquist and published by Nordic Ware. This book has tips, tricks, and tons of recipes. If you have a love of bundt cakes I would highly recommend this book. It can be found: (Nordic Ware website posted)
This is a quote from Jen's Blog which I just received....I would love to share the recipe with you and my question is, Do I get Jen's permission, Dorothy Dalquist's permission and Nordic Ware's permission before I do?
Obviously I still don't understand how this works (I'm old)
I heard a lawyer on TV say that recipes cannot be copyrighted -- only the format used to present a recipe can be copyrighted. Has that changed?

Hi BobbiJo!
Recipe ingredient lists cannot be copyrighted. Method's and images can though.
This is from the Copyright Office:
"Copyright law does not protect recipes that are mere listings of ingredients. Nor does it protect other mere listings of ingredients such as those found in formulas, compounds, or prescriptions. Copyright protection may, however, extend to substantial literary expression—a description, explanation, or illustration, for example—that accompanies a recipe or formula or to a combination of recipes, as in a cookbook."

This is just another good reason to close the door on TOH and all the changes since Readers Digest bought it.No longer the same by any stretch of the imagination.
Holy cow! I know I've been away way too long, so am way behind on things here. First thing I see when I decide I have a wee bit of time and needed to come looking for a recipe, and I find this? Wow! I'm gonna have to take some time to decide if I really think it's worth the effort popping in here at all any more. The fun I used to have coming here recipe hunting has been disappearing for several years. I think the final death knell just sounded. Not sure I want to take any chances lest I be accused of highjacking someone else's recipes for my own personal use! But wait! Isn't that what sharing recipes is all about? I've always given credit where credit is due. Can't say others have returned the favor with recipes I've shared. But again I say wait! Isn't that what sharing recipes is all about? Sharing? Now I"m terrified to share anything for fear any Tom, Dick or Harry could come along and say hey!! That's MY recipe and I didn't give you permission to share it! Wow! So sad! Guess I'll take my search elsewhere!

Think you just echoed most of the gal's thoughts. I think it is a shame we are taking all the fun away from the new gals.
KC10 this isn't about giving you or some other individual on the forum a pat on the back for posting a recipe, this is about copying word for word someone else's work from another site. People work very hard and what they create, they have rules posted on their sites as to how they want their work shared with others. I don't think it's too much to ask you to follow their rule when you share something.
sstetzelPeople work very hard and what they create
These people who worked so hard shouldn’t put a recipe out there if they’re concern someone is going to use it without their permission. They should keep their recipes a SECRET.

Yeah, I never understood that either.
