Good Friday morning everybody ~
Doing the Happy Dance over here in Caledonia! After being really lazy & relaxed last week, it's seemed like a really long week. I'll be glad to sleep in for a bit tomorrow. Cloudy here this morning and a wee bit cooler. Humidity is lower too, thankfully.
Carol, we've had rain & storms in our forecast all week here too & did get a little last night. I'm sure not enough to do much good, but something is better than nothing I guess. Elmira had a torneado go through there yesterday. It's about 50 mi. from here. Now, they can keep that kind of weather. Nope we weren't sitting in a chair fishing, although that would be nice. We were sitting in the camp chairs in the water sunning ourselves and having a good ole hen party w/ drinks, snacks & lots of good conversation. There were 18 women all together. Sure was a good time. I've got one more load of laundry to do & then on to the towels. I only had time to do a delicate load yesterday. I picked up a video at the grocery store yesterday. It was Janet Evanovich's first book, "One For The Money." Not anywhere near as good as the book. It would probably make a good tv series, though. Oh cannoli... I would have liked to have entered that contest too! I love those things. I'm sorry to hear about Big Sam, poor guy. Thankfully he's not in any pain though. It's very hard losing a treasured friend.
Oh no, Connie, not shingles!!! You poor girl. My mom had them, but she didn't know what they were & let it go too long. She was in agony & so sick. I'm glad you caught them early. What a thing to have to deal with just before school starts.
My goodness, now Renate, you have a sore mouth! Looks like a lot of us are going to be eating soft for the next few days. I'm glad you got to the dentist & are on antibiotics. They have frozen walleye at our Tops Markets here in NY. Don't know where else they get shipped to in the country. It really is a good tasting fish though. I think you are going to see a whole lot more childhood diseases popping up. I can't figure out why parents wouldn't want to protect their children against these diseases. Craziness!!!
Janie, now that you have your fridge all cleaned out, how about coming & doing mine???? I just don't know where all this stuff comes from. The broomvac seems to clean both hardwoods & tiles, as well as carpets. I wanted it for up at camp because most of my trailer is carpet. The bathroom & entry is linoleum & does a great job on both. I don't think you will be disappointed. I'm glad to hear that Blair is improving. It's going to be a long road for him, but with the great support of all of you and his good attitude, he'll be improving every day. I love roasted red peppers and that spread sounds wonderful. How about passing along the recipe. I'd love to make it & take it up to camp w/ me. Well, you're halfway through w/ your pt. I'll bet you'll be glad when that over with. Yep, I agree ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))) all the way around today.
Margaret, I thought you were going to look into a new computer. I think it's time! I know what you mean about it clouding your whole day. Very aggravating. Hope you can come back & chat later. Have fun at your RT meeting.
I haven't a clue as to what's on the menu tonight. I have to go grocery shopping so maybe I'll be inspired. The kids might be coming over, but I won't know that until the last minute. If they come, we'll order out. If not, it might just be panninis. Enjoy your day.

Hi-
Carol- I'm sorry to hear about Big Sam...always a tough decision to make- but the most loving one when it's time..
Well, the meeting went well enough, but it's still just a few of us doing all the work- and not many new people joining...so we're trying to figure out what to do...I did have my address labels, stamps, etc with me so the work for mailing the newsletters is almost done...that was a help!
I stopped with my 'puter cord to see if it was faulty- the guy said "it's the power source and I can fix it when you bring it in for about $80"...so I ran home and got it and brought it right in- true to his word, he opened the machine, unplugged the old and plugged in a new and darned if it isn't as good as new... so, we'll make sure everything is backed up and start to look for another machine...not frantic niw, though..
Sorry I've been so MIA around here...I need to have a good talk with myself..
Sorry to hear about Renate's tooth, but happy to hear about Blair feeling better...
The storm gave us some much needed rain, but no damage- thankfully...
I'll be back later- no ideas about dinner- probably something soft...yum...mashed potatoes!

Hi ~
Margaret, it's funny... I was talking with my friend, Vicki, this morning & she was telling me that they have a retired school employees lunch (she use to work part time there) once a year & since she was one of the ones that just retired last year, she got to plan it for this year. She was complaining because she was afraid that the new retirees weren't going to step up & like she said, she did her stint, so she was done. I can't understand some of these people & why they don't seem to want to do or plan anything! It's like lots of our parishioners at church. Seems like it's the same people do everything. Whoo Hoo, so glad to hear about your computer. I still think you need to at least start looking for a new one, though. I'm glad to hear that all you got out of yesterday's storm was rain. We sure could use some more over here.
Dinner's been decided, well, sort of. Michelle, Eric & the kids are coming over, so we'll order something out. I'm glad, cause I'm pooped. I've been running around all afternoon & really don't feel like fixing dinner. Off to do some church & Harmonics singing practice. Oh nuts! I've got to unload the dishwasher too! Oh well... a woman's work is never done... Talk with you all tomorrow. Have a wonderful, relaxing evening. I'll be in front of the tv watching the opening ceremonies. BTW... anybody hear what a boob Romney was yesterday with that comment about England's security? Wow, what a choice... bad & worse.
Good morning! May I?
I hope you are all going to be able to have a relaxing weekend- and hope the weather cooperates! I hope those who need rain get it- and those who don't- don't!
We ended up with some wonderful takeout from our local Italian Import store for dinner- we had eggplant rollups- very nice- soft and tasty! We can zap them in the micro for a couple of minutes and have a great meal!
I hope the Olympics are wonderful- hope they are inspiring, exciting and most of all, safe...we remember only too well the events 40 years ago..
Not a lot planned today- so I'll work around the house...(yeah, sure, Margaret- we believe that!)
My neighbors will be going away again for a week, and have once again asked us to take care of their dog....their son was going to stay home for work, but noooo...now he is taking personal time so he can go.. it really is OK, but it would have been a lot easier with him home- then we would only have had to check in once a day...anyway..we take Fester to a kennel- he is safe, has interesting things to see, smell and people who are good to him..other dogs to play with, etc...I never like leaving our pups for any amount of time, but we do...
i will get a wiggle on and be back later...
Waving and sending hugs...quiet ones...because some of you ( most, I hope!) are still sleeping!
Have a great day!
Just checking in to let you know I'm alive. Ugly and pitiful, but alive.
The blisters on my face are quite unattractive, and the swelling is really starting to bother me. I CANNOT stay locked up in my house for however long it takes to get through this, so last night I went out and grabbed a bite at a new restaurant nearby. Of course, we ran into neighbors so I had to explain "my look". This morning, I am picking up my new car, so I'll have to explain again. Then I'm going to come home and rest for the day.
I'm hoping that all of you have a day filled with pleasant sunshine and fun times.
Gm Everyone ! What a long day. Laft here around 10:30 and never got home till close to 7;30. Mr's procedure went well. However the Drr was running 2 hours behinnd. So we decided to get some lunch. Man the city was so hot! We will know in 2 weeks if the pressure is down. If so he will get the other eye done. If not then he will have to use drops. That takes several try outs as the right amount needs to get irone dout. That is why he resorted to the laser. Its quicker. Drop method could take several trial and error visits. In the meantime there is a chance for the eye pressure will continue to increase.
Carol, Sorry about Sam. It really is a haard decision to make. I hope things go well. (((((((hugs))))))))
Connie, Hope you are feeling better and enjoy that new Car ! They smell so nice !!!!!!!! Not to mention their dazzeling shine !
Better get this off Computer is acting up. What next !!!!!!
Janie
Hope your tooth is feeling better Renate. Nothing worse. I have always said toothaches and ear aches are the worst. They just gnaw at you. Nerve wracking.
Pt went well. Knee seems to be cooperating better with the stretches. That is after I told The Handler to go easy this time. M, Reminded me of your rough handler a while back.
Great opening to the Olympics. Loved the James Bond stint !!!!!!! Very entertaining. Mr taped it as we were engrossed in the Phillies game. Didn't play well at all. And the Big Bucks pitcher had a very bad night. Then the rest of the team followed suit and didn't play or hit well either. They are starting to run out of make up time for the wild card !
Looks to be another hot hot day.
Errands later on. I really need to get a vacumn cleaner.
Stay cool and enjoy the day.
Good Morning,
I for one just tumbled out of bed Margaret but then I was still up reading at 12:30 so I guess it evens out. It's too bad your neighbor doesn't take better care of their animals aren't they the one with the cat too?
Thanks for the nice words for our Sam he lived with us for a number of years before going back to live with Jenny and Eric so we all have a strong attachment to him. Hopefully he will have two to three good months we'll see how the meds work out.
Took Bev and Bill out to dinner with us and the old fuss budget said he didn't like my choice of restaurant and wanted to go to another one that has fish that is not up to par and I refused. Well he enjoyed his meal tremendously just like the last time we were there and Bev loves it, she ate like a storm trooper, we couldn't believe what she put away. It's a noisier restaurant and I understand that it bothers him but it's his choice to go or not and we do go where he likes other times.
Connie congrats on the new car what did you get? Is it fun and sporty?
Michelle sent Miss Bev such a nice note thanking her for letting us use her car for the parades and had about 4 pictures on it. I need to get the disk from her camera so Roger can put them in our computer. There is a nice pic of me and my red hat driving even.
Janie does Mr have glaucoma(sp) is that what the laser is for I don't mean to be nosy but curious so many new treatments for everything my mother used drops for years.
Have a great day and lets hope we all get a gentle rain.
Carol
Hi everybody ~
Margaret, I was still in bed at 5:36 this am, but didn't get up like you usually do. We had some light thunder storms from about 4 am until 5 & although they weren't the crash bang ones, they still kept me awake. We got some nice rain out of it & we just had another shower come through. I'm so glad to hear that you were finally able to eat a little something solid & I know how much you love eggplant. That's great that you have a good Italian take-out near you. I watched the Olympics right up until about 9:30 last night & then had to go to bed. I've had it on off & on all day today. Gosh, I hope nothing happens there either. There has been so much violence in our country & around the world lately. I just don't know what's the matter with people. Lucky you, having to take care of the neighbor's dog again. Evidently they can't afford to put him in a kennel, maybe??? Good thing they have wonderful neighbors like you & Steve.
Oh Connie, I'm so sorry about your poor face. I just hope that it's not too painful. Don't worry about having to explain your "looks". I'm sure all of your friends will totally understand. Don't look in the mirror for a while! Yea, a new car!!!! What'd ya get. That's got to lift your spirits. There's nothing like the smell of a new car. Too bad they can't bottle it.
Janie, I must have missed something. What was the procedure that Mr. had to have & why? I hope whatever it was, it fixed whatever was wrong. I thought about you this morning while I was reading one of Debbie McCombers books. She mentions one of the character's dog & it's a golden & his name is Chase. Hope your computer is OK. What a pain when they don't work right. I thought the Opening Ceremonies were beautiful. I went to bed shortly after they started the Parade of Nations. I loved the Bond thing too. Very clever. Go get that cleaner, will ya!!!! hehehe Wanna borrow mine? I'll trade you for a fridge cleanout.
Carol, Bill sounds like a real doozy. Next time, I would leave him home. What a pill he must be. You and Roger are so very good to them both. You'd think he would appreciate all that you do for him. Oh well, some people are like that. Oooooo yes, yes, yes, send those pictures. I'll bet they are wonderful. That was great that Bev let her use her car.
We're getting a lovely gentle rain right now. I wish it would last all night. We're having BLT's for dinner tonight with some nice fresh sweet corn that I need to get yet. I'm going to use the micro technique to cook it. I tried it on one that I had from this past week. It was perfect. I couldn't believe it. No shucking or boiling. Totally easy and mess free. And it was perfectly cooked!!!! I wholeheartly recommend it. Enjoy the rest of your day my friends. Will talk with you all tomorrow.
I hope your Saturday went well...mine was OK...but I had some dizziness ( hey, I'm not kidding) that may have been a side effect from the antibiotics -it was listed...I'm hoping today is steadier, and the antibiotics are done, so I should be fine! Knock wood! (A very unpleasant feeling! )I have my follow up appt with the DDS tomorrow to have him check the second side...think it's fine...then I don't go back until Sept.
I will be very happy to be able to chat with you about food again...especially our low carb food...
Not a lot to scheduled today, but Fester is telling me what he thinks should be first on the list....so, I'll be back later!
Waving and sending hugs and wishing you a great day!
Good morning friends. I'm hanging in there with my "new" look. I don't feel terrible, but don't feel normal either. I had a headache much of Saturday, and felt quite tired too. Hoping today is a bit better. The blisters are drying up and the swelling on parts of my face seems to be going down.
It was fun getting the new car yesterday. You are so right, that new car smell is the best! It is a Lexus RX 350, which is their smaller SUV. The color is called satin cashmere and I'm in love.
I felt good enough yesterday to putter around in the kitchen. I made some chicken to use on salads for the week for me, and a baked egg dish, which I then sliced and wrapped so I can pull out a piece for breakfast or lunch. It was just eggs, cheese and sautteed zuchhini and onions.
M.- Crossing my fingers for a good follow up appointment at the dentist on Monday.
We had such a nice break in our hot weather. Friday night we had our windows open and Saturday was so lovely outside. What a relief it was.
Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!
It is raining! It is raining! I can not believe it! it is a steady soft rain and it was not in the forecast. They said it would pass us up again. rain never sounded and felt so good. Margaret must have done a rain dance for us.
I nearly went to the dentist on Saturday, because I was so in pain again. Friday evening I thought is was getting better, but I woke up Saturday morning in pain.I am living on Tylenol and I hope it is getting better. I am not taking any antibiotics,he put them in liquid form around my gum in the back, where I can not get too. The x-ray was OK ,unless it would be a tooth on the lower jaw. I ate some cereal for breakfast, which I think,it taste more like a dessert and would be good for hot summer nights. I like European breakfast and any of you,who have been there, know what I am talking about. Not the terrible bacon and sausages.. Otherwise I eat everything, except hot-spicy food.
We watched the Olympics until it ended at 1.00 am. I will be back later,I guess I have to go and look at the rain, since it is such a rare occasion. They are close to halting the barge traffic on the Mississippi river ,since it has to be 9 feet deep and it is only a little bit over 2 feet.
Connie I am thinking about you and I am hoping, that your Shingles are going away soon. So soon as my teeth-gum situation has cleared up, I will get a shot. My DS was urging me for a long time to do it.
My sister would have her 78th birthday today,if she still would be alive.
I wish you all a great Sunday. It is only near 80F. Finally the Germans and English send us some ,of their for them, to rainy and cool temperatures.Thank you.
Renate
Just doing a quick fly by. I'm going over to visit Aunt Dot and I'm going to stop and pick up Rose, my mom's friend. She's often said that she would like to go & see her. It'll do her good to get out & do something different. With Mom gone, she doesn't have any friends her own age left. That is so sad. I try & keep in touch with her. I made Aunt Dot's cheese ball that I'll take to her. She can't see to make it anymore & there for awhile, I couldn't get the Kraft Roka Blue cheese, but lately Wegman's has been carrying it. I also made a lemon blueberry mousse pie to take. She's always got company and Jim, my cousin, stops over every day and will help her eat it. I got the recipe from here, but I don't remember who posted it. It's super easy & really good for these hot, hot days. Not too bad on carbs either. Speaking of which, it's suppose to be 85 today, but thankfully, there's no humidity.
OK, I better get a move on. Will try & talk with you later, but if not, enjoy your day!
Stopping in to say goodnight to all. Hope you enjoyed the day!
Barb- What a blessing you are to your Aunt Dot and to Rose. I hope you enjoyed your time together.
