I have 2 labs, Max (black) and Buck (blonde), and a caramel-colored tabby named Snickers. Max "tolerates" Snickers, but Buck loves him. Max is a great hunter and watchdog, Snickers is a great mouser, and Buck is just Buck. He has eaten 2 couches, 3 pairs of glasses, 3 Longaberger baskets... Good thing he's cute! Now he's a wonderful dog (3 yrs old).

I have had lots of 'kids'!!!
Loved them all, some were just pets and some were just ornaments and some were definitely 'kin'!!
Anyway we had a the black and white cat, (Segundio, nicknamed Gundy) at his full maturity weighed 28 lbs (Maine Coon). He was one that was 'kin'. He jumped up on the table when I was drinking coffee one day and decided that,if it was good enough for me, he could have some too. So, he stuck his paw in my cup, turned and stared at me, in shock and then proceed to slap me with his burned wet, paw. Too funny!
Gundy would wait by the door when DD would go out until she got home and then he would come to bed (always slept at the foot of my bed),loudly meow and tell me she was home, safe and sound. All was well!

We have a 7 yr. mini mare, her name is Bella, she came to live with us last year because she miscarried and can not breed any more. That's OK!!
She is in the pasture with Storm, our 3 yr. old, the other mini mare and the 2 goats.
If you know goats they love to climb, so we have made a 'gym' of sorts for them to play on. There is a ramp up to the top which is about 4 foot high at the top and then several different levels they can jump down. Several months ago, when the windows were all open, I woke up with lots of 'neighing' going on. Fearing something had gotten into the pasture, I got the flashlight out and went to investigate. Storm was having a 'cow', because Bella had decide to go up the ramp and stand up on the platform. Silly horse!!
When I come home from working at the convenience store late at night, the 2 outside dogs meet me at the end of the drive, so I let them have a ride to the house. When I do this, I can hear Storm in the pasture, so I have to go give her a treat. Or if I start talking outside and she hears my voice.
It sure doesn't take them long to get spoilt!!!!

    ColoSheri,

Hearing about your lab eating 2 couches makes me feel better. The lab we had (she lived to be 14 years) only ate one sofa, and she did it while I was standing on the front porch! If only I had looked in the window I might have caught her before she totally destroyed it!

I also have an unbelievable story about our lab “Duchess” (the story was long after her puppy days). As I mentioned in an earlier post we have a desert tortoise named “Fred”. We’ll we actually started out with seven tortoises that hatched from eggs. That first year of the babies’ lives, my husband made a special pen for them to stay in during the day when the weather was nice. The pen was outside but in a protected area of the yard. We would bring the babies in at nighttime and put them in an aquarium set up for them in the house. My husband ALWAYS went out about 5pm to bring them in. Well… one night he forgot to bring them in until about 6:30 pm. As he stepped outside, all of the baby turtles were sitting on the porch! Now that may not sound so unbelievable, but the porch was a foot higher than the yard, and the turtles were very very tiny (about the size of a half dollar). There was no way they could get out of their pen, let along up on the porch. When he asked our two kids if they’d put the babies on the porch, they swore that they hadn’t. Well, he brought the tortoises in but couldn’t stop thinking about how they could have gotten up on the back porch. The next night, he decided to wait past the usual time that he brought them in, but he was watching out the back door, to see if he could solve this puzzle. Pretty soon, he saw our black lab walk over to the tortoise pen, pick one turtle up in her mouth, walk over to the back porch, set it down and then go back for the next one, until she’d brought all of the babies up onto the porch! She knew it was past time to bring them in the house, and wasn’t going to leave them out in the pen.
Ah… she was one special dog ♥

Good Morning, Our mini doxie (Cinnamon) A couple of years ago. He started having trouble with his back, Sometimes he will have a slipped disk, And we have to take him into the vet for a cortizone shot. It's been quite awhile since he's had any problems, Last week when I posted I did forget about it, So that slipped my mind last week when I posted. He has been himself for quite awhile, It just slipped my mind. Sorry! Anyways, He is having trouble with his back again, Started yesterday afternoon, So I'm going to call the vet this morning to get him in for a cortizone shot.
    Have a good day!

Di loves Spring, I know cinnamon will feel better after his shot. I had a dalamation that was hit be a truck , and in later years required shots for lameness in his hind leg. The vet used a solution of vitamin E
and saline. It really helped. Give him a big hig, and make him some chicken soup.~Janie~

Have to tell you about my precious Amber! Was home the other day for lunch and she jumped up in my lap and started chewing on my thumb. All of a sudden she bit the fire out of me! It really hurt! I said NO! and tapped her on the top of her nose. She leaned back and looked at me, took her front paw and slapped me across the nose! It was like she was saying, "How did that feel?" Cracked me up!

I've told you before about our Springer, Millie. Today I want to tell you about how our cat came to us. We had a very sweet elderly lady at church. Her name was Alpha. She was your typical "Virginia Southern Belle". Everything to her was "Just precious". I had stopped to visit her one day and her cat jumped up on the sofa and sat down beside me. She ended up telling me that if anything ever happened to her, the cat,(of course, named Precious) would be put to sleep because none of her family would want her. I refused to accept this reasoning and said so. She asked if I would take her if anything ever happened to her. I said yes. Almost exactly a year later, Alpha was told she had cancer. On June 12, 2001, I got a call to come get Precious. When they gave her to me with all of her things, they handed me a box of medications. I did not know she was sick with and ongoing illness until then. Her meds have been doubled and tripled but she is about to leave us. Last night she jumped up on my bed and she always lays right next to my head and purrs so loud, noone could sleep through it. Of course Millie jumped up and put her head between Precious and me. I think she finally realized what was happening though because Millie finally moved down to the foot of the bed and let Precious and me have some time together. I think I will have to put her down before the week is out.
I have to tell you what happened about a month after Precious came to live with us. One night she was at my bookcase and she was just having a fit scratching at a book and howling. I went to see what was wrong. When I pulled the book out, it was one I had borrowed from Alpha and when I told her how much I had enjoyed it, she insisted I keep it. Precious started rubbing against the book and I put it on the floor. That night she sat on it all night but after that would never even notice it again. I always felt that was her closure. Please keep her in your prayers. It is going to be a hard week for all of us.
