  • Substitute for Taco Seasoning?
Anyone know of a good substitute for taco seasoning? Something in it doesn't sit well with my DH and he won't eat anything with the taco seasoning in it, even if I only use half of the package.

Or maybe a homemade taco seasoning mix???

If you can live without the unique flavor that Cumin adds, you can go with a Southwest seasoning mix for a little kick of flavor too. It won't be that exact taco seasoning flavor, but it'll be good.

This is the one I use. I omit the salt.

    Taco Seasoning Mix

    2 teaspoons instant minced onion
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon chili powder
    1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon crushed dried red pepper
    1/2 teaspoon instant minced garlic
    1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
    1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

Use this and 1/2 cup of water per lb of ground meat.
