  • cranberry/cream cheese appetizer
I am looking for a recipe that may have been in one of the special savings pack included with my cooking magazine last holiday season. It was a great hit with my family, but I am unable to locate it now. The cranberries were cooked with other ingredients and poured over the cream cheese while still warm. Served with crackers it made a great appetizer even my 2 year old granddaughter enjoyed. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Cranberry sauce
    green onion
    lime juice
    garlic salt
    cayenne pepper
    chili powder
    cream cheese

In medium bowl, combine cranberry sauce, chiles, green onion, lime juice, garlic salt, cayenne pepper and chili powder; mix until well blended.

To serve, place cream cheese on serving dish. Spoon 1 cup of the cranberry mixture over cheese. Serve with crackers.

heres' another one I found surfing the web

    Cranberry Appetizer Spread
    1 cup water
    1 cup granulated sugar
12 ounces fresh or frozen cranberries
    1/2 cup apricot preserves
    2 tablespoons lemon juice
    1/3 cup slivered almonds, toasted
    8 ounces cream cheese

In saucepan over medium heat bring the water and sugar to a boil without stirring. Boil 5 minutes. Add the cranberries. Cook until cranberries pop and the sauce is thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat.

Add preserves and stir in juice. Cool.

    Add almonds.

Place the block of cream cheese on a serving dish and spoon berries over top.

    Serve with crackers.

Here's one I found on the net:

Cranberry Salsa Dip with Cream Cheese

(12-ounce bag) or 3 cups fresh cranberries, rinsed and drained
    1/4 cup minced green onions
2 small (appx. 2 tablespoons) jalapeno peppers, cored, seeded and minced
    1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves, minced
2 tablespoons finely grated fresh ginger
    2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese
Cranberries and/or cilantro sprigs for garnish

Rinse, drain, and pick over cranberries, (discarding all that are soft or bruised). Place them in a food processor; pulse until finely chopped but not mushy. Place in a bowl; mix together with onions, jalapeno peppers, sugar, cilantro leaves, ginger, and lemon juice. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 4 hours so flavors develop (salsa will be too sharp and tart to begin with).

On a serving plate, place cream cheese; cover with the dip. Garnish, if desired, and served with crackers.
