A long time ago my mother made a wonderful date nut candy log made with Eagle Brand condensed milk. Does anyone have this recipe?

I found my mother's old recipe for date-nut log candy, but it doesn't use sweetened condensed milk. It is delicious.
    Date-Nut Candy Log:

    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. milk
hunk of butter (about 1/3 stick)
cook until creamy. Add dates (This was a package about the size of a box of raisins.) and Cook until dates "dissolve". Add 1 cup of chopped pecans.
Cook this to soft ball stage. Pour out on a damp cloth and roll. Chill. Roll in powdered sugar.

I know this sounds like a guessing game and it is, but this is really good sliced candy. Mom has dementia and hasn't cooked in years. This recipe has to be at least 55 to 60 years old. Hope you enjoy it. Patty

I remember my Grandmother making this but I couldn't find her recipe. By the way, welcome to the BB from Olathe, KS. Hope you stay on and enjoy it here. :)
